Observations from Charlotte's 78-66 victory against Central Michigan:
-- Pierria Henry didn’t speak with the media after the game, but it’s hard to imagine he would have cursed at the person on his back during Saturday’s loose-ball skirmish had he known it was referee Tracy Woodson (a former N.C. State baseball player who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals). Woodson dove on top of Henry and Central Michigan’s Kyle Randall before they had much of a chance to get things sorted out. Central Michigan coach Keno Davis was also right in the thick of things and also received a tech. He said he was trying to protect the players.
-- Henry won't be suspended for next Friday's game at Miami, since he wasn't ejected for fighting.
-- Charlotte’s 9-0 start is tied for the fifth longest winning streak in school history. Longest is 16 in 1974-75 under coach Bill Foster. The 49ers finished 23-3 that season.
-- The 49ers had 23 assists (led by five apiece by Denzel Ingram and Terrence Williams) on 30 baskets against Central Michigan. “That’s my favorite stat,” said coach Alan Major.
-- Charlotte got a lift when Chris Braswell, DeMario Mayfield and J.T. Thompson -- the team’s three upperclassmen -- entered the game in the first half. Major’s strategy of starting the young guys (three freshmen, two sophomores) and bringing in the more experienced players off the bench, has certainly worked so far.

Of course it some sissy ref from NC State to get sensitive. Valvano is not coming back sissy.
Good work bouncing back from an emotional win on Wednesday! Tough game as CMU wasn't terrible. Mayfield nice bounce back from a poor Davidson performance. And Willie was Willie. 9-0. Go Niners!!
Willie Clayton is going to be in the disccusion for ROTY in the A-10.
Yeah, I know the schedule is terrible, but it's time to start asking why this team isn't in the top 25. No matter who the opponents are, when you go through an entire month without losing, it's because the team is good.
Would hardly call this team good when they spent the entire month beating losing teams as well as the same less than average winning teams they beat last year with a terrible team !!!!
Leave it home,Homer.
J. Constant buttpirate. How's it goin on that whacked blog u have? Coco for coco puffs....
Went to the ECU game, not a strong program but playing well this year and were undefeated entering the game. UNCC dominated the boards and created turnovers on the perimeter. The Pirates were frustrated and nothing their coach did worked. Braswell is a beast and Henry is polished and there is no drop off from the bench. If you can't appreciate this team then you probably are unhappy with every thing else in your life.

Agree 100% with the last sentence.
I know you guys are starving for respectability but anointing this team good based on this resume of wins is utterly ridiculous. At this point Eastern Kentucky is undefeated too. So is Wyoming. Check their schedules. You'll find them "tissue soft" very similar to Charlotte's. Neither are good teams. LOL to be a good team you have to beat good teams. I'm sure you can appreciate that. LOL
To be taken seriously when you post leave out LOL

What an absolutely brilliant and ORIGINAL observation. You are a real Einstein!
You do have a point 5:21, but the Charlotte squad does have a much more difficult strength of schedule than Wyoming and Eastern Kentucky. Charlotte also has a more difficult strength of schedule than Cincinnati and LSU which are other undefeated teams. The SOS is what it is, but Charlotte has been playing pretty much the same SOS over the past 3 or 4 years. This year's squad has done the best of any other team in a while. Most of the people that are talking about this team are calling them good because of their play more so than their record. Also as far as the SOS goes, it is not like Charlotte is pulling out squeakers against some of the lower rated teams. The Davidson game has been the only game where the game was in doubt late in the 2nd half. This team is good. Is it great? Time will tell.
HAving watched the game myself, I think UNCC will have issue when they get into league play. Teams will match their inside game and I am not sure they shoot it well collectively to be a factor. I will be anxious to see how they do. Also, if the refs had not controlled the game on saturday, I think UNCC would have been in a bigger dog fight. If you were at the game and can be impartial, youwould have to agree there were a lot of suspect calls which altered the flow of the game.
Braswell should do a Mike Gerrity and transfer his last semester. Major should never treat a 4 year senior this way.
What on earth are you talking about Anonymous. Obviously one of the UNCC haters who can't stand for us to have a team. Braswell is in no way shape or form mistreated! What did you graduate from Crapel Hill?

Thank you for your sincere concern. Not to worry. Chris is fine and probably just as happy with Alan as you are unhappy to see us winning. Troll on.
