The national rankings simply mean that you offer several PHd programs, and that your admin wanted to go that route, as a primary research school. I know I got a better education than many of my peers who went to NCSU. In fact, my brother in law says my wife (who turned down UNC) and I got a better education than he did at UNC. We both went to App. It's all what you make of it as an individual. But, please don't confuse size, national vs. regional, etc. as a deciding factor. That's almost like saying you get better service and product at Walmart or Lowes than the small local hardware store. They might be cheaper, but they certainly don't offer better quality or a more personable experience. Charlotte is big, possibly massive one day. But, it's not that hard to get accepted, nor is it a school that is really relevant on a national level. Honestly, kids get better educations at the Davidsons, Furmans of the world. Kids have always gone to UNCC for engineering, arch...that's not new. But, those programs are not nationally relevant. App has and still is the best ed program (by far more teaching fellows and people in the profession state wide than any other school in NC). Also, one of the best business schools, exercise science programs, communications (broadcasting), geography, and more. ASU is a "regional" school by choice. That fits the university offerings, location, etc. Although, there could be a push to be a "national" U. That would be a bad decision, though, IMHO. Talk to students, hang out on each campus, talk to graduates to form an actual opinion.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2888315372276404701.post-2775242774029221202012-05-02T18:23:19.493-04:002012-05-02T18:23:19.493-04:00Then explain why UNCC education program is passing...Then explain why UNCC education program is passing Apps? (fact) Also, why don't you explain why UNCC has one the best engineering programs on the East Coast and also one of the best Architecture programs around, reason why a lot of people are traveling to UNCC to to get those degrees? (also fact) So there was no blind opinion here. Your more than welcome to look that up to give you a peace of mind.

http://www.matchcollege.com/college/199139/University-of-North-Carolina-at-Charlotte/NC

Here is another peace of information. App is ranked in region in the top 10, not nationally cause they don't even have a ranking in the us news today. Also in that South Region ranking NCSU,Chapel Hill, Duke, WF, and many others, including UNCC, were not put in those rankings because they were put in the national rankings and UNCC is nationally ranked. Go look it up if you want facts, under nationally ranked schools. App. might not even be ranked because they are not even a big enough school, but they were not even close to even being put on the nationally rankings for schools.NINERsummmey13https://www.blogger.com/profile/07550938678710491711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2888315372276404701.post-78190382177502795812012-05-02T17:30:53.694-04:002012-05-02T17:30:53.694-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.NINERsummmey13https://www.blogger.com/profile/07550938678710491711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2888315372276404701.post-9966968324456552702012-05-02T08:41:38.250-04:002012-05-02T08:41:38.250-04:00You're telling me to get my facts straight whe...You're telling me to get my facts straight when I just posted real facts (sigh). UNCC is a great school - I have family that went there and loved it. I chose App for their business school. Your comment about UNCC being a sister school - not sure where you are going there. App is a sister school to UNC-CH as well - both UNCC and App are sister schools to the UNC system. Are you translating UNCC to be more of a sister school because you share the same first three letters? It is YOU who must get their facts straight. Rebuttal? App. is a great school and so is UNCC. I went to App. State for awhile and hated it, maybe because its too liberal and single minded. UNCC actually the sister school of UNC-Chapel Hill and works with that school. Chapel Hill get some of the UNCC students to go their Graduate school for their law program and in return Chapel Hill sends students to UNCC for engineering, architecture, and teaching now.
