Bobcats don't do 49ers any favor

Some thoughts after Wednesday’s Charlotte-La Salle game:
First, off the court: You’re telling me that of the 41 home games the Charlotte Bobcats have this season they believed the best time to offer free tickets to UNC Charlotte students was the same night as one of the 49ers’ 14 home basketball games? You have to be kidding. I understand the Bobcats’ desire to tap into the marketplace, and fans of Charlotte 49ers basketball are likely to want to attend an NBA game. But the same night as a Charlotte home game? Wow, that shows a lot of ignorance or a lot of disrespect. I’m not sure what is worse.
Second, on the court: This season’s team is just not as fast and agile and its defense not as good as previous Charlotte teams. Athletic teams kill the 49ers. One thing this team does not do is quit. Down 14 midway through the second half, they could have easily packed this one in and turned their attention to Xavier, but they chose to fight. Charlotte got tremendous play from E.J. Drayton and Leemire Goldwire down the stretch and they hit 24 straight free-throw attempts (this is not a typo)! That goes to show that in most games, fundamentals can still pull you through.
On to Xavier ...

So true Jim! So many of my friends decided to go to the bobcats instead of tonight's game vs LaSalle... ugh... How can the 49ers expect to succeed when the city can't rally behind them. And speaking of the city, May Pat started a football chant in the student section tonight.

Agreed. Bobby has reiterated again and again that although this team hasn't been winning games, they have NEVER stopped hustling. Although this was an ugly game, they stuck around till the end when we made our run. Great game, electric crowd, good stuff!

I personally think it is disrespect from the Tarcats- scuse me, Bobcats. Although, one could make a case for sheer cluelessness. They did somehow think originally that having the games on Bob's network and choosing a dumb mascot were good ideas.

Gotta love those Niners last night. Boy they sure sure stuck in there didn't they? And the fans were wonderful! I tell ya, as a Niner fan and current student, that was a sight (and sound) for sore eyes, and man were they sore.

It was also awesome having the mayor there supporting the team and also supporting us students in our push for football.

I had tickets to both the Bobcats and the Niners game and chose to go to the 49er game. I'm glad I did too. The game disgusted me at times but the ending was worth it.

I'll be going to the Bobcats game on Saturday instead.

I always say that I want the ball in Lee's hands at the end of the game. Don't matter that he played like sh** for 3/4 the game! He is the most clutch player (not DA)we have on the team and I'm glad he'll be back next year. Too bad we can't say the same thing for EJ

What the *&#(?

This is why I hated to see Bob "DC" Johnson get the team. He has no interests in Charlotte nor the greater metro area. How freakin' inconsiderate for the Bobcats to try to undercut another local sports team by offering their fans free tickets.

Even with their struggles this year, I'd pay to go watch a basketball game in the SAC before going to a free "event" surrounding what some might consider a basketball game.

something tells me that Bob Johnson DIDN'T make an executive decision on when to give free tickets to our students. GET OVER HIM OWNING THE TEAM!

That said whoever did should be ashamed of themselves. Its just bad PR

Rediculous! Period.
