Former Vance High standout Wendy Stywalt, a sophomore guard with the Charlotte 49ers, has elected to transfer at the end of the school year, school officials confirmed on Tuesday.
In two seasons with the 49ers, Stywalt averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds. In her freshman season, she was named to the Atlantic 10 all-rookie team after averaging 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
This season, she averaged 7.7 points and 4.6 rebounds as the 49ers made their sixth consecutive postseason trip.
At Vance, Stywalt was named ME-CA 8 Conference player of the year as a junior and senior. She averaged 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists as a senior. She was ranked among the top-10 senior guards in the country by All-Star Girls Report.

Bad loss. She's a terrific talent. I didn't like the style they played this year. She was instant energy.
