Reservations for FSLs exceed 4,000

At the close of business on Friday, the Charlotte 49ers had received reservations for 4,010 Forty-Niner Seat Licenses (FSLs). At a price of $1,000 each, that could translate into more than $4 million for the creation of a football program.

At this time, no money is being accepted by the ticket office. The 49ers must await the final decision of the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees, which will come this month, before money can be accepted. The recommendation of the school's chancellor, Dr. Philip Dubois, called for the sale of 5,000 FSLs within six months of the board's approval.

Interested fans and corporations can add their names to the reservation list by calling the 49ers ticket office at (704) 687-4949 or the 49ers Athletic Foundation at (704) 687-4950.

Yay, 4,010 people care...no one else does. Focus on the athletics you have and grow those. There is enough football in Charlotte and NC already. App owns 1AA and UNCC will end up there behind App with less and less people going to their games down the road.

Also, no one really cares what you have to say. Who cares if they get a football team? This is for students so they can enjoy a true college experience. You must be another wal mart tarheel fan that never went to UNC.

Stay positive.

Yes we can !

Hope Trustees shoot this one down. Not the right time or economy to be throwing money at a pipe dream. I always felt this would be popular at first and then fade away in to obscurity after years in 1AA.
Is 4million dollars supposed be a big deal? Going to have to dig much, much, deeper than that to even be relevant. The media in Charlotte acts like its a big deal they have 4010 "signed on". Pathetic numbers in my opinion compared to UNC, ECU, NCSU, even App.

You're right anonymous, 4,010 is not enough. It will be about four times that when we get a team. I doubt we'll be behind App after 10 years of playing ball but since you're the expert I'll leave that one to you.

To bring you up on current events, we have heard this rhetoric before. We weren't supposed to have PHd's and an on campus arena was out of the question as well. We were never supposed to be part of the UNC System, rather just a branch office too. We couldn't, shouldn't, wouldn't, but at the end of the day we merely chose not to listen.

Your opinions are valued, by who I have no idea. But keep it coming, we'll just choose not to listen.

What was that? I think you're mumbling. Have a Nice Day!!

You negative people are idiots. Go Niners!

Niners, go check your attendance figures in the sports you have. This may hurt your argument. If you cannot get behind what you have, why add more?
Those figures will be looked at.

Please, if Charlotte Football doesn't affect you, keep your opinion to yourself. The students, alumni, and even faculty have been wanting this for years. Stop nay-saying and pointing your fingers at a University you care nothing about. Go Niners!

Poor whiners, probably voted for John McCain, too.

Fact is if UNC Charlotte football if instituted it would affect the recruiting landscape and money offered from NC Board of Governors. Don't look for friends outside of UNCC in NC.I think that is why many are against us.
