The Charlotte 49ers men's basketball team didn't make it into either the Associated Press or USA Today Top 25 polls this week (in fact Charlotte didn't get a single vote in the USA Today poll), but the 49ers (16-5, 6-1 Atlantic 10) are garnering lots of attention for their performance this season.
And more and more basketball "insiders" are starting to include Charlotte in their predictions of what teams will make up the 2010 NCAA Tournament field.

The Sporting News predicts six A-10 teams in the NCAA tournament, including Charlotte. Read it here.

Anon at 11:35 must be a Tarhole fan. That truly is a team that is NIT worthy.
The Niners still have some work to do to get in, but I still love being a part of bracketology again.
I could care less about being ranked as long as we get into the tourney. But it would still be awesome to see a number next to our name. I am really happy with how strong the A-10 has been. Arguably more competitive than the ACC this season.
And people wonder why UNC gets so much coverage in this paper. Not an article goes by without someone mentioning them. Great Job Niners! Hopefully they make the tourney and much more.
It's nice to once again see our name in the post season projections, something we were accustomed to seeing almost every year from 1990 to 2005. We are back. And it looks like a chapel hill fan tried to plug "his" tarheels in a Niner article, perhaps out utter frustration.
Im predicting it now:
UNC vs UNCC in the first round of the NIT.
Don't you have to have a winning record to get in the NIT? That leaves UNC out
Actually you dont need a winning record to be in the NIT anymore. And with the way the NIT is set up now, even if UNCC has a better record, the game will be at Chapel Hill!
