49ers women to play in WNIT

Charlotte's women's basketball team will play in next season's Preseason WNIT. The 49ers, who played in last season's WNIT (where they lost in the second round) will be joined in the 16-team tournament by Austin Peay, Central Florida, DePaul, Florida, Hampton, Iona, James Madison, Lamar, Missouri State, Purdue, South Dakota State, St. Francis, Toledo, Utah Valley and Valparaiso.
The 49ers are guaranteed at least three games in the tournament, which begins Nov. 12. -- David Scott
