Eastern Michigan? Who cares? This is a big waste of money. Fire Rose, the football guy and Major who too.

@anonymous. let's fire you as a fan instead.

Get rid of football before it ruins your university.

When does the stadium expansion begin? CUSA has required us to expand but no announcement has been made yet. Perhaps we can move seats from the new plush high priced tennis facility (and no seat licenses required to build that facility) to the football stadium.

Cry, moan, complain all you want...no one is twisting your arm and forcing you in to see a game. Too many Tarhole fans on here worried that this might detract from their "glorious" football program...lol.

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:17, don't worry. The Observer will cut back on your Niner coverage like they did in basketball 15 years ago if it looks like there is a remote chance you Niners will challenge UNC for fan appeal.

6:35 suggests bias in media. No f..king duh moron. Bet you're a liberal jackwad up Obama's caboose as well.

Anonymous said...

No, 6:35 is just an old man who has been off his meds.

Anonymous said...

Anon 854, UNC-chapel hill used to get lots of favortish from the Observer but Mike took out his measuring tape and fixed all our problems for us. We know because he told us he did.

grow some nuts concord, come up the mountain and get your beating.....you have no excuse now with app moving up as well, it is in writing where our folks contacted yours but they didn't call us back......chickenshit.

Just because an ugly girl wants to date you doesn't mean you do it.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1140, App would be much better off trying to improve all other sports and academics instead of showing so much hate for someone they have never played. You guys have an obvious inferiority complex.

Anonymous said...

maybe so, but ive never seen such a trash talking bunch that hasn't even played a down........now come on up so we can wash your mouths out with soap.

btw, i have yet to meet a student who got accepted to app and concord who decided they were going to concord for academic reasons......i do however encounter folks who just want to stay close to mommy and daddy.....and of course stay living in the basement

^^^^ I call BS. I'm sure you know lots of students and grads that chose UNCC over App State. Anyone wanting to major in any engineering or applied science field, Accounting, Architecture, and even Nursing would probably chose UNCC over App State. In all fairness, I'm sure most future teachers chose App State.

One thing you need to know. The average UNCC grad makes a great deal more than the average App State grad. There is a reason for that. UNCC is a classified as a National Doctoral Research school (only 3 in the state of NC). App is classified as a Regional Masters University.

But shouldn't you be giving grief to your rival WCU instead of holding a grudge against the Niners.

Anonymous said...

Hey Jack, WCU is NOT a App State Rival.

Anonymous said...

Hey 8:01, of course they make more. They are in different majors! Engineering, Architecture...etc.

App State graduates more teachers than anything. What I think the dude at 9:41 was touching on was, no kid in high school is thinking UNCC has a better academic offering than what App could offer. Based on the entry scores it does appear App does get a higher GPA and test score from the freshman class. UNCC would do well the drop the night school image that has worked its way into peoples heads in Charlotte. It comes with the territory of being so close to a large city where 30s and 40s something people are trying to get an education while working.

Anonymous said...

Would UNCC have the guts to eventually schedule App State or ECU in football? Duh, not likely. If Judy and her cohorts would schedule local opponents of interest, perhaps they'd get more support for the football program and fill the stadium. UNC-Pembroke, Gardner-Webb and Wesley (anyone heard of Wesley?) --no thanks. Alas, except for Fl. State, UNCC didn't get very good fan support for basketball this year, partly because the OOC schedule was so ridiculous. People could care less about Kennesaw State and Texas State. Stop trying to pad the schedule for easy wins and perhaps you'll improve game attendance. Sports fans--except for the loyal few--find UNCC athletics an afterthought.

Anonymous said...

UNCC's average attendance was 6785, even with the 2 previous miserable seasons. App's average attendance was a whopping 1445. UNCC already plays ECU most years in basketball and was going to play them in football until ECU changed conference. This App fan stating UNCC is afraid of playing App in basketball is very dilusional.

This App fan that keeps making these posts must have one big chip on his shoulder.

I know App fans are not trash talking Charlotte basketball. You talk a goood game about our schedule but we beat Xavier, UMASS, La Salle, and even Butler. Who did you guys play this year. You couldn't even beat Davidson; a team we beat regularly. I hope you guys get in Conference USA but don't try to trash talk my team. Don't try to bad mouth our university. We just beat down your women's basketball team. Beat Davidson first then come back to us.

Charlotte has 26,200 students, so attendance at basketball games should be much greater, particularly since students are admitted free. We'll have to see how football does next summer. The problem is that men's basketball has been in the doldrums for many years. Charlotte is happy to make the NIT, which has become a barometer for the program. It has been nearly a decade since basketball was relevant. Halton used to sell out when the school had only 15-16,000 attending. And now, its back to a weak Conference USA, made up of a bunch of former Sun Belt teams and schools nobody knows. Any team of relevance has left. The weakened league will not excite fans next year. We've traded St. Bonaventure for Texas El Paso.
There are absolutely no regional rivalries. The A-10 had prominent teams coming to Halton, which won't be the case next year.

Anonymous said...

Anon 144, UTEP has a national championship, so that might not be the best example to use. I do agree we are making a big step down in basketball but it could be much worse. We could be rejoing the Sun Belt Conference.

Anonymous said...

Pretty sure with the exception of one fan (who only mentioned it in passing) all the App people are talking about football. They don't care for basketball up there like the UNCC people cling to. It is a football school.

Anonymous said...

Looks like some App fans have a case of penis envy. Od course they are talking football. They have nothing else. Small college football is nothing to brag about under any circumstances. I wish them well in the Sun Belt.

Anonymous said...

UTEP had a championship in 1966, when they were known as Texas Western. Lets get real. They are nothing but a long way from Charlotte--nobody cares

Anonymous said...

It is comical that UNC-Tweetsie is bragging about joining a conference founded by the Charlotte 49ers back in 1976. A conference the 49ers moved out of roughly 10 years later.

Smells like some runt sorryass jobless hick fag recluse pedophile posting all this bullshit who got its ugly zitface stuffed down the toilet in school.

Too bad all these fucking pussyass faggy looking disturber sports writers didnt get the same toilet treatment like Joe Blow, Scott Tissue, Tom Sorehead or prettyboy homo Jon Jon. Odds are they did but its never too late. They know jackshit about sports.

Pussyboy clueless Person got his own separate slot now ... what a joke.

BTW, Charlotte graduates more (and better) teachers than App State does as well. 2nd in number to ECU only in numbers of teachers.

Anonymous said...

Now that App finally found a D1 conference that will accept them, are they planning on upgrading their other sports and academics? They have no claim to fame in any of these. At least the 49ers have 5 D1 FINAL FOURS, 1 in basketball, 2 in soccer, and the equivalent of 2 in golf. I think App has a long road ahead of them and I'm not talking about the road to their new "conference rivals".

Charlotte will also host Georgia State on 9/9/2017 (source)

Anonymous said...

When does the stadium expansion begin? I hope soon because I think we are going to need it.

Anonymous said...

WOW Anonymous 9:44 PM --- Not a game played and you want the stadium expanded.... Are you kidding me.....

Anonymous said...

Anon 755 are YOU kidding me? Have you spoken to all the people that want to go to our games? I doubt you realize this but 15,000 is very tiny by college football standards. CUSA has asked us to expand to at least 25,000.

Anonymous said...

Great Job getting the Eastern Michigan Hurons on the slate for the 2016 and 2017 season (sorry, but they'll NEVER be the Eagles). By scheduling a Mid American Conference opponent, Judy Rose is doing a fine job of getting Charlotte's name and football program greater exposure.

Finally, this city has a college football team to call their own. Go 49ers!

^ roflmfao

uncc 49ers? yea rite and the tooth fairy still gives you a quarter for all the teeth you put under your pillow

since you are from the south make that "tooth"

Anonymous said...

^^^^
Question 1: How did you know he was from the south?

Question 2: What kind of fairies do you like?

Question 3: Do you not even know how to spell the word "right"?

Question 4: Why are you not making your stupid remarks on the App State message board?

Anonymous said...

Anon 8:01 -- App has a better Accounting program than UNCC.

General undergraduate admission standards are in App's favor as well, but since UNCC has a ton more post-undergrad programs, I'd call the academic debate a wash.

Time to get a game in the books, Judy! I mean read these comments. The rivalry would take some thunder from tobacco road for sure.

Rename the Knights Triple A Baseball team as Charlotte Hornets and to hell with the Bobcats who are still 20% owned by Bob Johnson.

CHARLOTTE HORNETS TRIPLE A BASEBASE

The Hornets were the original Hornets professional sports team from 1901-1973

For 72 years the team played at the end of Marsh Rd in Dilworth
as Charlotte Hornets.

Its a baseball name NOT a loser basketball NBA name and its not even the same team with absolutely zero connections.

The new stadium downtown and Charlotte Hornets Triple A baseball team is PERFECT

This would give a lasting tribute to the 72 years of the old Charlotte Hornets minor league franchise at old Clark Griffith Stadium.

Screw the NBA.

Anonymous said...

^ what is basebase? baseball maybe?

agree the "hornets" name needs to be back on a baseball diamond and out of basketball permanently where it never belonged.
shinn wanted to name his nba team the charlotte spirit anyway but that was hijacked by a bunch of whiny fans.

the good thing is you dont have to wait for approval from the nba to rename the name the 3a team as the charlotte hornets

time to ditch the knights name
keep the bobcats name for the nba loser team

Anon 10:29, evidence proves you wrong. UNCC is ranked tops in the state in percentage of grads passing the CPA exam. Where does App rank? FIFTH! Look it up for yourself and stop believing everything you read on that App message board.

Anonymous said...

Why are UNC-Tweetsie fans so desperate to play UNCC? It seems they would be more interested in playing teams like UNC, NC State, VA Tech, etc. I think UNCC's goal is to be competitive with those teams. App fans seem more content to continue thinking small.

What college do you the mouthy runt fuck face attend?
Fags U? Smashing that brain will be a pleasure.

Dont be caught at ASU or it will be your last trip. We'll be watching. Thats a promise. hehehehe ...

I do find it funny that App thinks it will roll into FBS and maintain status quo. While it is true the Niners haven't played a game yet, but when it comes to FBS records - right now we are even. How will the App faithful respond when they aren't winning the conference every year or being contenders for national titles. I have also seen your budget - good luck on making this move work out for you from a dollars perspective. The Charlotte budget and givin was ahead of App BEFORE football.

As far as academics go - comparing two VERY different schools is basically pointless. App is a smaller masters level university in the small mountain town. Charlotte is a large doc research university in an urban setting. Believe it or not MANY people pick a school for things besides academics. I got accepted to both, but grew up in a small southern town. Last thing I wanted was to go to college in basically the same thing.

Finally, as for playing App, a few things. It is pointless to talk about it now as our schedule for the next few years is full. It made no sense to schedule App early anyway because App had a clear advantage. If we played next year you should beat us. Nothing to beat your chest about. We have 2 recruiting classes - use your head. Once both programs are FBS and have their legs under them at that level I am sure a game will be lined up.

Good luck in the craptastic SBC. Just remember that this program, that hasn't played a down, passed you in conference levels before setting foot on a field. That should tell you something about our potential. In fact you should thank us because our conference elected to take the best programs left in the SBC which opened space for you.

Also let us know when your fans care about anything besides football. EVERY App fanI know, even the football season ticket owners, are UNC Chapel Hill (their real name) basketball fans. Hell most of them also follow Tarheel football too.
