49ers get first football commitment for '15

-- The 49ers picked up their first football commitment for the 2015 class over the weekend: cornerback Jaire Alexander of Rocky River High. Alexander made a lot of things happen for Rocky River as a junior last season: he intercepted seven passes, had 14 passes defended and forced four fumbles.

On offense, Alexander caught 27 passes for 464 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown. He also returned a punt for a touchdown and was responsible for 1,272 yards.

Here's a story on Alexander and his Rocky River secondary teammates from last fall's Observer.

Spring practice begins March 11, with Charlotte's spring game scheduled for April 5.

-- The 49ers baseball team has added three games to its schedule after its season-opening weekend was canceled due to in playable field conditions from snow. Charlotte will play UNC Asheville at Hayes Stadium March 5 and 26 and play at Winthrop on April 9.

Actually it's Charlotte 49ers since the early 2000s, no matter how hard you're campaigning it to still be the UNCC 49ers. Get your head out of the 90's and welcome it to the 21st century.

Its alright 3:21pm. We at UNCC understand that UNC Boone fans are going to express jealousy when a player chooses us over you. I mean come on, would you really want to play in the Fun Belt conference for a team on the decline?

I don't care about UNC Boone.

unc concord jv football is pathetic. your fans don't even show at FB games and now no one goes to BB.

Fans do go to the game, as well as, basketball games. I don't know where you got your information from bit is incorrect. Obviously, you are talking about things you know nothing about.

He will be poached by an instate ACC/AAC/or Sun Belt team, no doubt.

Turn on a unc concord FB or BB game on TV and you will see there is no one there. I don't care what #'s your SID gives to the press the camera doesn't lie.

no fans go because no one cares about unc concord

I care about the team.

You care and maybe 3 others, but that doesn't make much of a fan base.

Good luck, you will need it.
