The 49ers signed 19 high school seniors Wednesday during national signing day A 20th, quarterback Brooks Barden, signed in January and is already enrolled in school, as are junior college transfers Nick Cook (linebacker), Branden Dozier (safety), H back Richard Murphy and defensive end Josh Manley, a transfer from Syracuse.
The breakdown: 12 offense (3 line, 5 receivers, 1 RB, 2 H backs, 1 QB); 10 defense (4 line, 1 LB, 5 DBs), 1 punter. Nine from North Carolina, including five from the Charlotte area.

there are several others that have already enrolled for the spring semester.
Handful of kids have already enrolled for spring semester in addition to this list.
Keep in mind that the team is only allowed 63 scholarship players while they are an FCS school. FBS schools average between 20 and 25 players per class so, 19 for us is not bad at all. Keep in mind, we want quality over quantity as well. There are a few decent players in this class (Barden, Wynn, Ford, and Kofa are 3 star recruits by ESPN's standard).
We are transitional FBS this season, we can have more than 63 scholarship players.
After watching the meltowns against UNC-Durham, UNC-Pembroke and Wesley, I was hoping for a lot more defensive players.
But on the other hand, adding Barden, Wynn and Ford to Johnson, Phillips and Duke might mean we score 50 every game...
Plus, you have to keep in mind that we didn't have the turnover most programs had, since we are new. So, most of our players still are either RS-Sophmores and RS-Freshman.
They did sign 5 guys in December. 3 JuCo players, a transfer from Syracuse and a high school QB. If all 19 sign this period, 24 is a lot for a program with a 63 scholarship limit,
This class is very solid as are the transfers already enrolled. As we saw in the super bowl 40+ players in that game were originally rated 2 stars. It's what you do with them once on campus.
Are all these recruits 100% academically qualified to be at UNCC 49ers state funded university or are they using fuzzy math like all the other criminal NCAA schools do?
What are their high school GPAs? What did they make on their SATs?
You dont dont want any Scam Newtons at UNCC running around in Scam Newton City otherwise the UNCC 49er football program is not a only a waste of time but short lived.
Prove they are all qualified and Rose in not pulling any strings ...
A good class for a transitional program. I've said many times a football team in Charlotte has the potential to be the 500 lb gorilla in the room. And I'm a loyal App grad who lives in Charlotte ( which we own by the way) Next year is another lost year and most of these kids will be redshirted. I'm sure that UNCC would not cut corners academically.
