The Charlotte 49ers golf team is ranked 19th in Golfweek's preseason poll and junior Corey Nagy, who played at Vance High, was named a preseason third-team all-America selection.
Charlotte is also ranked 13th in the preseason GCAA/ Golf World preseason coaches poll. The 49ers open the 2008-09 season Tuesday at the Toby Cup in Japan.
Charlotte, Georgia, Stanford and UCLA are the only four teams in the country that have earned consecutive top-10 finishes in the NCAA Championships the past two seasons. Charlotte returns two starters from last season: Nagy and senior Stefan Wiedergruen.
