Former Charlotte 49ers point guard Michael Gerrity has transferred to Southern California and will have 1 1/2 seasons of eligibility remaining.
Gerrity, who transferred to Charlotte from Pepperdine, has joined USC and started practice last week but will not be eligible to play in a game until after the conclusion of the fall 2009 semester.
Gerrity quit the 49ers following Charlotte's three-game offseason trip to Canada but remained enrolled in school through the fall semester.
On his departure from Charlotte, Gerrity told the Los Angeles Daily News: "Style-wise I just didn't feel it was the best fit.''

He's made a life on living out a dream that one day he will play 35 minutes per game of his own hoops style no matter what team he suits up!
If we had Gerrity we would easily be +.500 right now! Instead he wants to sit on the bench beside Lil Romeo.
Like I stated months ago no great loss. All he did is dribble around the basket & brick layups & shots. He probably won't even play much there at USC?
But it does show you about our style of play>run & gun & live & die by 3 pointers. Are we ever going a great big man or 2? Wish we had Wakes bench warmers!!All of their big men are athletic.
Gerrity is nothing but a quitter and a whiner.
Isn't this the guy who quit on his team a few weeks before the season started?
Mike Gerrity gets a F for sportsmanship. Way to hurt your team. What a selfish individual. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, pal.
