Charlotte 49ers football recruiting update

Charlotte's football team got a commitment from Charlotte Christian offensive lineman Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux on Monday, bringing their Class of  '14 total to six. Here's a look at Cerza-Lanaux and the other five verbal commitments:

Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux, 6-8, 290, OL, Charlotte Christian, rated 2 stars by Rivals.com. Also had offers from Georgia State and Coastal Carolina.

Emmanuel Moseley, 6-0, 165, DB, Greensboro Dudley. Also had offers from East Carolina, N.C. A&T.

Najee Tucker, 6-2, 200, S, West Rowan, rated 2 stars by Rivals.com. Also had an offer from Ball State.

Tristan Butcher, 6-2, 220, LB, Coweton, Okla., rated 2 stars by Rivals.com. Also had offers from Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana-Lafayette. Shows 49ers are stretching their recruiting scope with move to Conference USA.

Nathaniel Davis, 6-3, 290, OL, Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge. Also had offers from Toledo, Old Dominion.

R.J. Tyler, 6-4, 230, TE, Wagener-Salley (S.C.). Also had offers from Appalachian State, Wofford, Western Carolina.

Welcome to the State of Charlotte

What a terrible decision you have made.

lol @ the troll.

How sad is your life that you sit around waiting to type things like that?

Oh man, guys like you crack me up! I guess at this rate we're just going to have a team full of bad decision makers, huh? With the growing list of guys choosing Charlotte over ECU and App St, at what point will it occur to you that maybe there's actually something good being built here. I guess it never will, which is fine I suppose, because I find it extremely entertaining how blind you can continue to be!

You can despise the local team all you want, but the fact that this team, which will be DI-AA for 2 years, is consistently beating out DI-A teams for players (note that 4 of the 6 listed here had offers from DI-A teams) shows that this program is being built the right way and is destined for success. I suggest you go visit the sites and blogs of teams you like. But don't be surprised when your irrational hatred of Charlotte is not rewarded as the team posts winning records every year.

Just 53 days until the game 1 destruction of Campbell. GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't expect an FCS school to recruit like a BCS school, especially when they haven't even played their first game. None of these guys are all that impressive, but they are very solid class for an FCS school. App would take everyone.

This is a great start! Keep up the work Niners!!!

Niners!

David Scott - Please set up this Observer blogger page so that you can only post with a facebook account. It helped weed out most of the mentally ill with the rest of the Observer website. These blogger type pages still need help.

I love the fact that Charlotte is already winning recruits over Division 1 programs while the team has yet to take a snap on the field. It shows you how great of the job they have done building the program and facilities. The 49ers will be a force to be reckoned within the next 8-10 years. We have 2 season in Division 2, and we'll need 5 or so seasons in Division 1 CUSA to really get our program established. I love it. GO NINERS!

Great job! Nice to have another program to follow. Overall charlotte has horrible fans as many people are from other places.
Bobcats have no fans in seats. Panthers stadium never full anymore! Checkers still there?
Glad we moved away. Hope great success for uncw however.
I also miss the observer sports reporters.

Dear Fans of a team that doesn't truly exist yet-

Temper your expectations. You haven't played, nor beaten, a single team yet. Be excited but don't pound your chest, you are embarrassing yourself.

Dear fan of another school who is having penis envy,

Wipe the sand out of your vagina and stop lurking on an opposing school's FAN blog. You are just embarrassing YOURSELF

Dude, we'll pound our chests if we want to! I won't speak for all of Niner Nation, but I don't really think most of us care too much if somebody coming to a blog meant for our fans thinks that we should be embarrassed. We're beating out established teams for recruits without ever having played a down! Quit acting like you have the right to put us in our place, or whatever you think you're accomplishing by posting here.

Dear Observer: We don't really care about UNCC. Charlotte is an ACC market and once you realize that you will start selling more papers. Quit wasting ink on a program that no one could give a rats a## about. And if you think their fans care about you- think again. Their message board is laced with Observer hate on a regular basis.

Don't worry, 7:32, the Observer already very much has the same delusion as you that a newspaper can't cover the local school if it's in the same market as other bigger schools. That's why this blog is the only place you'll find information on our teams on this website, which conveniently doesn't end up in the paper most of the time. So rest assured, no wasted ink! Also, the sports editor, Mike Persinger, used to frequent the fan message board to antagonize our fanbase, so they're already very familiar with our ire for their paper. So the bottom line is, if you actually have a good point worth making, I'm listening. You haven't said anything so far we haven't already heard hundreds of times, and we're no closer to believing we don't deserve more coverage.

Always said a team in Charlotte would be the ACC's worst nightmare. Getting decent commitments now but expect some to decommit around signing time. And Im an App grad. This is good for your school and I hope you have early successes or it will be a loooong time building.. Now that Judy will allow App and C to play basketball how about some football? Come on Judy if we are willing to let our hoops team get pummel by The 9 ers you shouldn't be afraid of a football game.

1:21, you App "fans" need to quit spreading these lies about "Judy not letting Charlotte play App". Its simply not true, AT ALL.

What happened to the "regular" story that was released? I went to read it and it is no longer on line. You kept the story about one baseball player signing with the Heels online for 4 or 5 days. Why keep the story about the Niners online for less than 24 hours?

So David where do you stand on the pot legalization issue?

Judy,

Give the niner fans what they want!

A beating at the hands of App State before they even get their feet wet and have a losing season in CUSA.

Thanks,

Yosef

Dear 10:36, 5:11, and 7:32:

We don't care what you think. Thank you for caring enough to try to slow our progress with your lame words. Trust me, we've been hearing people like you since the movement started for a football team. Good thing none of us actually listened to you. Keep hating on the 49ers; I love it. The fact that people like you are even paying attention to our program is great for us. I also invite you to come to our games and root against us. Thank you.

Sincerely,
NINER NATION

GO NINERS!!
