Charlotte 49ers basketball players Williams, Lester arrested

49ers basketball players Terrence Williams and Shawn Lester were arrested in Charlotte on Friday on charges of second-degree trespassing.

Williams and Lester were released and have trials dates in October.

49ers coach Alan Major said Williams and Lester will be disciplined for violating team rules, but declined further comment.

Williams, a junior guard who played at West Mecklenburg High, started 24 games for Charlotte last season and averaged 7.6 points.

Lester is a sophomore guard from Mooresville High who didn't play last season because he was academically ineligible.

Second-degree trespassing is defined as an  unauthorized person knowingly entering a  premises without the intent to commit a crime.

WHAT A JOKE PROGRAM WITH A JOKE COACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, Now, Now; don't expect a real news story, like Who-What-When-Where-How. All the budget cuts and the shrinking of the size of the paper has required the elimination of journalists from the newspaper staff.

I bet they receive a harsher penalty than PJ Hairston.

Royce White would be proud of these two idiots.

I have no sympathy for anyone who goes to college on a scholarship funded by alum donations and gets their mug shots in the newspaper.

Sorry, but Shawn Lester is the star of the team. Judy Rose is not going to just let the star of the team face a lengthy suspension no matter if it's deserved or not.

I knew Lester was a douche when he posted a nasty comment about the school and then deleted it right away like a coward. Fuck him. I never liked him and I won't lose any sleep if he never wears a Charlotte uniform.

Hooray for Prop-48 thugs!

Any time players are placed under arrest and have to stand trial at the start basketball season, I feel such an underwhelming sense of pride in Charlotte student-athletics.

I had forgotten all about that. I still hope there won't be any suspensions just because we can't afford to lose anyone next year w/CUSA.

Not a big deal.

I'm proud of all of Major's players!

Wow, you must not be miserable losers if you have to police a college basketball player's twitter.

GET A LIFE!!!!!!!

WAAAAH! SOMEONE GOT ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING! WAAAAAAAAAAAA

Newsflash: Not every kid in Division I is an alter boy and sings on the choir. If an athlete's behavior bothers you, find a different hobby on wednesdays and saturdays. Enroll in an ethics class.

T-Will and LL3 are better than 90% of what's out there. Go find a jaywalker to judge.

"Disciplined for violating team rules"? WTF?

Yeah, I'm sure there's a set of guidelines about trespassing in the student handbook.

They're getting disciplined because they got arrested for a 2nd degree misdemeanor. Not for showing up late to practice without their student id cards.

'Yeah, Bob was arrested for embezzlement of company funds yesterday and goes on trial in October. The boss says he'll be disciplined for violating the lunch room policy as a result.'

As usual so many "perfect" people ready to pass judgement when they do not know the facts.

"without intent to commit a crime"
One game suspension at most.

Mean while in other 49er sports action over the weekend the Men's soccer team 'hammers' crosstown rival Davidson in front of a fantsatic crowd Saturday evening and then the Lady 9ers pick up a 1-0 soccer victory on Sunday vs UNCW. Neither TEAM VICTORY appearently is worthy of a blog mention. I must be missing something somewhere is this reporting rationale???

1-3 games at least. More if there's additional details.

Google 'Royce White charged with trespassing'. He was suspended for 3 months, charged with trespassing (and only trespassing), and remained suspended for another month before transferring out of Minnesota.

We don't know what we don't know about this incident.

Step 1: Find two high school kids truly deserving of a scholarship.

Step 2: Politely ask two undeserving young men to transfer.

Problem solved!

Step 1: Find a coach truly deserving of a Division I coaching job.

Step 2: Politely ask our current clown to leave.

Problem solved!

I remember the outrage over technical fouls, pouty faces, and slammed basketballs.

This Major fellow sure can reel in some real winners, can he?

Not losing any sleep if these two players are gone.

So far three arrested players under Major and countless suspensions. Great coach. Really.

"So far three arrested players under Major and countless suspensions. Great coach. Really."

Question. Why do we blame the coach for poor player conduct?

If you want to question Major's fit on the team, fair enough that's valid. But why should he be held accountable for what his players do off the court?

Bottom line the players need to make better life decisions, to avoid getting arrested.

4:49 - Bad reporting leads to bad speculation.

ex. We cant blame Majors for this! Those players left his house hours before they were at that girls apartment!

@6:48
I guess this a Lutz vs Major reference?
Outrage? seriously?

Players cited for minor offense. Trolls rejoice and come out from under rocks. Life goes on.

Didn't know this made the news. Sad for our school but the all white party at Club Caviar was crazy. They were acting like fools and should of listened to security. Thought the police was gonna tazer them. If you can't control your drinks then stay home and don't disrespect our image...

There you have it. Under age, public intoxication, Club Caviar security had to get police involved who nearly taser them. Normal stuff. Especially for a kid who was ineligible a year.

What was Major's career record in A10 over 3 years?

Cant wait for Major to get all his guys in here

See? Trolls rejoice, dream up shit and come out from under their rocks. Thanks for that verification.
