That is a great first year schedule. A lot of easy road trips and several winnable games.

Mr.P said...

come on now, how can you say they are winnable games when there is not a single player on the UNCC roster?

Scott needs to cut the gimmick name crap and refer to its proper name as UNCC or UNC-Charlotte since it will be in a different conference for football. Is he taking orders from Rose?
This gimmick crap is causing great confusion. UNC-Pembroke dosent seem to have a problem.

If you knew anything about the "gimmick name crap" you would know that any Athletics team associated with the University is known as Charlotte. And also that there hasn't been a hyphen in UNC Charlotte for quite some time.

Agree with using the correct name UNC Charlotte for the school and everything else. Changing the sports department name was trival asinine and only made a mockery of the university. Name any other Div One schools in America who is stupid to do that.
Rose is the guilty one. Her and her idiot loser troll groupies take a hike.

David, please do some digging for the men's basketball schedule, but when the sweater-vest sale at Jos. A Bank, of course.

Lord, people get bent out of shape over calling athletics "Charlotte". Folks seem to have some kind of fetish for "UNC". Perhaps if Chapel Hill would use it's proper name for athletics, there would be a case for using UNC Charlotte. Since Hell is not going to freeze over soon, that isn't going to happen. While we are at it, let's just change every branch of the consolidated system to UNC-whatever. I"m sure UNC-Raleigh and UNC-Greenville would just love it.

The Gimmick part is the UNC in the universities name. Get rid of the UNC and you get rid of the confusion.

"Name any other Div One schools in America who is stupid to do that"

-The entire Cal State University system..

Cal State University Long Beach = Long Beach State OR simply Long Beach

...Fresno State, Fullerton, Chico, Northridge, etc.

Hope UNCC enjoys playing their new conference mates from the Big South.

Oh, wait ....

What? Someone is completely moronic.
As a native of California you are clueless about the university system.

UCLA Bruins is not called the Los Angeles Bruins.

U Cal at Berkeley is not called the Berkeley Golden Bears

U Cal Santa Cruz is not called the Santa Cruz Banana Slugs

U Cal at Santa Barbara is called the Santa Barbara Gaunchos

U Cal at Davis is not called the Davis Aggies ...

There are 10 schools in UCal system.

Better to remain quiet and look stupid rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, "Carolina".....how many more area examples do you need of schools "branding" a name for athletics that is not there "official" university name.....I'm waiting........

Anyone who thinks UNC Charlotte sounds better than the University of Charlotte is retarded.

"University of Charlotte is retarded."

The moron who calls us UNCC or UNC-C adds at least half a dozen post to every Goldmine entry (including this one.)
This draws attention to the blog and encourages others to speak out and support the CHARLOTTE 49ers!

So I salute you Mr. UNC-C Idiot! Your completely idiotic ranting will never accomplish anything but adding fuel to the fire for a complete name change to the University of Charlotte!! Thank you Sir!

That schedule is just more proof that Charlotte needs to join a conference quick.

For the small number of delusional lunatics out there, lets get this out of the way now: you are not going to the FBS after 3 years. Get that lunatic 2016 Big East pipe dream out of your head. You are in the FCS for at least 1 decade, maybe a couple.

You can't build a program playing a schedule like that. You have got to get in a conference. You will never recruit the quality of player that App does (or even Gardner Webb) if you are an independent. No kid is going to want a team with no shot at the playoffs or a conference championship.

Anonymous said...

Mr. P, How do you think that a team that will have scholarship players does not have a chance to win against several, not all but several teams that don't offer football scholarships. This is a good schedule for a first year team. Please see ODU and Georgia State's first year schedules and results.

Too many mis-informed dumb UNC "Charlatans" only think inside the box refusing to open up and consider anything other than status quo .

The answer is to get rid of this thorny Rose and hire a mover and shaker who is well known and can put together a new D1 conference with the many bigtime disaffected schools in the ever growing southeast coast population.

Never have more than 10 schools in a conference. D1A for football. No different conferences. All for one and one for all.

The new
Southeast Atlantic Conference:

U of North Carolina (at Char)
East Carolina U
U Central Florida
U South Florida
U of Miami
Va Tech U
U of South Carolina
Georgia Tech U
West Virginia U
Clemson U
LSU

All the schools you just listed are UC's!! I'm talking about the CSU system...This is just to make an example that some schools go by different names when referring to the athletics and the Institution. CSU Longbeach goes by Longbeach State. CS Fullerton's official athletic website is the FullertonTitans.com, sounds very similar to Charlotte49ers.com

Anonymous said...

I am certain that Georgia Tech and LSU will be thrilled to be in a conference with ECU and UNCC....may as well get Gardner-Webb and Shorter too. LMAO!

Anonymous said...

Insulting The University of North Carolina 49ers or ECU is irrelevant but typical loser spew.
Afterall its not where you been but where you are going that matters. Future not past. NCSU would be a logical replacement for ECU if needed.

Logistically GT, LSU or Miami, USC and Clemson are no problem and would easily join a new BCS regional bigtime conference.

A tougher sell realistically although would be schools like Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, UCLA or Stanford who are all obv locked in their own BCS long time regional conferences.

To avoid confusion the other UNC
(at CH) in the eastern part of the state would not be eligible to join the new Southeast Atlantic as only one UNC (at Char) in the central piedmont could be utilized.

The main object to recruiting a new bigtime college D1 BCS conference would be pick and choose carefully only regional disenchanted big schools with big tradionals willing to become a part of a new high profile conference better than what they were in.

The UNC 49ers need to take action on this immediately to have the new BCS league in place within 5 years max and inititate the funding for the new law and med schools along with a pharmacy school.

Glad that Charlotte has football and hope to go to a game or two.

Miami, GT, and LSU have all won multiple championships, will probably win more, and are among the football leaders in their conferences. It is unrealistic (crazy) to believe that Charlotte is appealing to those and other schools for a conferenc affilation. Folks in Miami, Atl and NO are probably only barely aware that there is a UNC Charlotte, much less that we have a team.

For heavan's sake UNC and NCSU have not even made an impact on the CFB scene!

Anonymous said...

LSU and South Carolina leave the SEC to play sports with Charlotte? Dissolve half the ACC to play with Charlotte? What a joke! More proof some Niner fans need to learn how big-time college athletics works before writing.

Anonymous said...

We (the Charlotte fans) don't think we have a chance in hell to be in conference with SC or LSU... Anom. 10:57 is delusional and is the one who is "mis-informed." He doesn't speak for any of us.

please people its only football, where the players wear pads and it takes 5 hrs to play an hour of football. "if rugby were easy, it would've been called football"

Geesh. Some winners aspire to see a large great state UNC university namesake while other losers envision a small junior college named for some ancient irrelevant dead illiterate teen dropout preggo sex slave who quit school at 17 got married and had 15 kids by the time she was age 32.

Carolina is the Latin translation of Charles land named for King Charles II of England from the 16th century single colony state called Carolina or Charles land.

Carolina Colonies
A Brief History
"Carolina was so called by the French, in 1563 or 1564, in honor of Charles IX, King of France (Carolus in Latin, meaning Charles), under whose patronage its coast was discovered.

The territory thus named afterwards included the lands between the 30th and 36th degrees of north latitude, and extended from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific. In 1663, this defined territory was conveyed, by Charles II, King of England, who claimed it by virtue of Cabot's discovery, to Lord Clarendon, Sir William Berkley, Sir George Carteret, and four others with ample powers to settle and govern it.

I've observed the whole UNCC, UNC-C, Charlotte, University of Charlotte deal for some time. Bottom line. Those that want something new aka: University of Charlotte (which stinks in my opinion) have aspirations for school equalling the folly-mindedness of UNCC moving up to FBS in a few years. UNCC is a fine school, tons of graduates went there undaunted as school, campus and athletics were all, successfully referred to as: UNCC; and to all the punks out there with revisionist history in mind: UNCC forever. Sure the athletics are formally referred to as "Charlotte", fine. The school is still UNCC. Be satisfied with Charlotte (athletics) and shut up.

"Be satisfied with Charlotte (athletics) ..."

WRONG WRONG WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!

That PIG wont fly !!! Ever !!!

#1 pick is UNC 49ers
aka
UNCC 49ers
UNC-Charlotte 49ers

It was University of North Carolina at Charlotte 49ers for 35 years from 1965-2001 when Rose bastardized the name change.

Nothing has changed. Its still
UNC(C) 49ers playing in the wrong conference since Rose seems to do everything warped or backwards.

Charlotte 49ers,COLONIAL CONFERENCE is where this school should be heading. Will be light years ahead of G Webb and WCU within five years.More along the lines of JMU and ODU,W&M ETC.

Some of you Niner fans talk about joining a BCS Conference one day. If that dat arrives, will the current Sports Editor and future Sports Editor be lecturing Niner fans they do not deserve to be in a major conference because they need to know their place.

From what I've heard more than once from a former Observer employee who was a UNCC student at the time, that's what they did back when the 49ers were trying to get in what was then a new basketball power conference named CUSA. M & H wanted the niners to join the CAA instead of CUSA.

I see the same thing happening in football one day. And then, the O will start refusing to list the "game day" pregame information for all Niner games, the same way they did in basketball when the Niners were a regular in the NCAA Tournament.

And Niner fans wonder why they have no local support.

The answer is obvious.

All NC grads at the Big Zero are UNC Tarheels not UNC 49ers so they have to keep the latter down.

Change the colors to green and blue and sports name to UNC 49ers. Ditch the fem queenie name. Cut the 2nd class citizenship. Be a KING.

U North "Carolina" (King Charles) signifies 2 Kings named Charles from both France and England.

Rose obviously works for the Big Zero and not UNC 49ers. Roses motto "think small".

Post "the answer is obvious" and follow up with a bunch of gibberish just to clarify. NOW THAT'S COMEDY!
