For a second consecutive year, the Charlotte 49ers have swept the Atlantic 10's top scholar-athlete awards.
Sprinter Darius Law, who had a perfect 4.0 GPA in his four years at Charlotte, and women's soccer player Megan Minnix were named the A-10's Male and Female Scholar-Athletes Of The Year earlier today.
Golfer Corey Nagy and soccer player Hailey Beam won the awards in 2010. It's the first time in league history that a school has swept the awards two years in a row.
In Charlotte's six years in the Atlantic 10, the 49ers have won seven of the conference's 12 scholar-athlete awards. The league's other 13 schools have combined to win the other five (Saint Louis 2, Massachusetts 1, St. Bonaventure one, Xavier one). In fact, Charlotte's women's soccer team has produced three winners, more than any other school's combined total.

Congrats to them. However golfers and track scholars don't mean a thing in regards to traction in the sports market. UNCC is invisible and always will athletically.

maybe one day DS can blog on top 100 recruits in hoops, new athletic directors with vision, real media packages, and football bowl appearancs. Until then, keep the training wheels on in the A10
Well, if that means emulating Tenn., Mich, Southern Cal., and UNC-CH, I hope not. Takes a misguided individual to denigrate ANY athletic program for being academically responsible.
I heard that Charlotte is exploring joining the MEAC. Can anyone share any information they have on this and compare this conference with the Southern or CAA conferences.
Davidson gets Duke & Kansas and Charlotte gets East Tennessee State. That's funny I don't care what anybody says.
Charlotte gets Miami and Memphis. Davidson gets Guilford and Presbyterian. Your point is?
Miami & Memphis ain't no Duke & Kansas
ETSU isn't Guilford or Presbyterian. If you are saying Davidson's overall schedule is stronger than Charlotte's, you are going to be wrong as long as the Wildcats play in the Southern. Good for them getting Kansas and Duke on the schedule. The whopping they receive will be worth the payday.
I'm saying Davidson's program is better than Charlotte's at this time.
