49ers add Temple to '15, '16 football schedules

The Charlotte 49ers have added Temple to their 2015 and '16 football schedules, the first two seasons Charlotte plays in Conference USA.

The 49ers and Owls will play Oct. 3, 2015 in Charlotte and Sept. 24, 2016 in Philadelphia.

The '15 game brings the 49ers up to the five FBS home games required by the NCAA (they'll also play four Conference USA home games). The 49ers also play at FBS Georgia State that season and have a home game against FCS Presbyterian (subject to change).

Awesome! GO NINERS!!

Temple is probably the most logical opponent we could have landed because they are somewhat in the same position we are. Since both of us are moving to FBS and need home nonconference FBS opponents, why not schedule each other.

I won't be surprised if Temple and the Niners eventually wind up in the same conference again after everything is said and done.

Temple is already in the FBS, they're in the Big East Conference.

I would like to see Charlotte get Appalachian State on their football schedule. (home and home) ASU is an FCS super power and will probably work its way into a Division 1 Conference in the next 5 years.

Tennessee is on the schedule for '17 and Virginia Tech for '19. Are those teams official enough for ya? I'd say getting Tennessee to play the 49ers within 2 years of being FBS is a pretty decent accomplishment to say the least.

I wouldn't go patting yourself on the back about getting Virginia Tech and Tennessee on your schedule and acting like it's something to be proud of or any kind of achievement. You will just be a sacrificial offering for them so they can get to bowl eligibility easier. Virginia Tech played Austin Peay and Bowling Green this year and Tennessee played Georgia State and Akron. That's who UNCC is to those schoos- somebody they are paying to destroy.

9:16 AM - As rotten as Va. Tech and Rocky Bottom are right now, I doubt either one will blow us out. Of course, both are still an upgrade over the C-USA schedule, filled with losers and also-rans like TOO-lane, Memphis and UNC Greenville.

11:57 PM - that could be. Once Temple gets into the Big Least, sporting such Eastern stalwarts as Boise St and San Diego St, they'll realize they made a mistake. I'm sure they will be less than thrilled trying to get their women's volleyball team from Philly to Boise for that in-conference matchup.

@9:16 Anon

Nothing wrong with playing a team that is superior to you. I have no issues with playing a VA Tech or UT type program. It'll bring excitedment to the fans and $$$$ to the program.

Geez. No one should be "patting themselves on the back" for scheduling Tenn and Va Tech. That much is true. Nobody with any grasp of reality is expecting to win or even be competitive against those teams. It's no big secret how the larger game is played. The established programs with access to many millions of dollars buy a few wins from the schools who don't. It's a lousy situation, but that's the way it is.
Can ya'll just let us enjoy finally having football without stupidly mocking us for not being Alabama?

Schedule Temple. Anonymous complains you aren't playing anyone. Schedule Tennessee and Va. Tech and anonymous says yeah but they are just paddding their wins. Can't win either way. Sounds like a lot of jealous Chapel Hill fans who can't stand any articles about a school other than theirs.
By the way, what are your bowl plans for this year?

J....

Memphis is in big est beginning 2013.
And to the clown who think UT and VT wont blow you out? Thats hysterical. You guys are out of touch with reality...

A PE degree at Winthrop would be harder than a AFAM degree from UNC-CHeat.

Thanks for your concern. Perhaps, however, you should be more concerned with your own scandal ridden athletic dept. A Chapel Hill grad who can't tell from context what AD stands for? That is interesting
Is your picture in the dictionary with the "tomfoolery" entry?
