Is NCAA control of officials the answer?

It’s sad so much time is spent complaining about the officiating this season in the A-10. In my mind, it’s time for the NCAA to take over control of all officiating and end the ridiculous concept of conferences each hiring their own officials. Aren’t they all supposed to be following the same rulebook? If so, why would should the quality of the officiating be any different in the Sun Belt, the Atlantic 10 or the ACC? But it is. It’s time to try the random assignment of officials.

It is time. I have seen too many games blown on a bad call. I am an Elon grad and have followed them all season. At one point we had a stretch of about 5 games where the final call was a bad one. Ranged from a bogus tech, to goaltending. The goaltending was complete BS because one of there own player pulled the net not us. I could go on for days on this topic. Something needs to be done and done now.

Yeah, just like they should have the same chefs at Ruth's Criss and Western Sizzlin', just to be fair. Stupid idea. The conferences that can pay for the best refs should have the best refs. There aren't enough to go around who can keep up with today's athletes anyway.

The official situation the past 2 years has been the worst I can ever remember...across the entire country!! Something has to be done..just not sure letting the NCAA handle it is the answer.

When has the NCAA gotten anything right?

So from what the guy up top is say, is that if you find the biggest tarhole fan you can find, and give him a big check to ref all uncch tarholes games, that is way more fair then the leagues paying the NCAA for refs...

Yeah, but I said it in English. Think about it -- if the refs suck under Jim's plan, it's an NCAA conspiracy. If they suck under mine, it's your sorry conference's fault. At least you have recourse with your sorry conference.

2 things here need to happen.

1. The rulebook & officials should be the responsibility of the same person/people. In this case, the NCAA.

2. The person/people with this responsibility need to have the balls to stand up and make sure the rules are followed.........regardless of team or league.

The NHL has had issues for years......until last year. They gave ONE PERSON (Steven Walkom) a mandate to follow the rules. Last year, he was outstanding.......especially when compared to the previous 5-6 years.

It's way past time. On top of that, at least the ACC is holding their officials accountable for bad officiating. There were 10 fouls in less than 3 minutes in the Xavier game Saturday. Even the opposing fans were chanting "Let them play" as fouls were called against Charlotte! NCAA needs to take over, and in the mean time... get a clue Linda Bruno!
