Top PF Braswell plans to visit Niners

Some more notes and notables from the Charlotte 49ers:
--- Chris Braswell, one of the nation's top high school power forwards, has canceled a planned visit to Virginia Tech and will now make an official visit to the Charlotte campus Friday-Sunday, sources confirmed. Braswell originally planned a visit with the 49ers on Oct. 23 - the day of the school's annual "Basketball Madness" event - but his Hargrave Military Academy team has a game scheduled that date.
Braswell, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward, is ranked the 78th best player in the country among high school seniors and the 22nd-best power forward by recruiting Web site Rivals.com. He has also been named an ESPN 100 college prospect. Last season, Braswell made a commitment to Georgetown, but after deciding to spend another season in prep school the Baltimore native re-opened his recruiting in June.
--- Former 49ers men's basketball all-American Eddie Basden signed with the NBA's Miami Heat this week. He was among four guards Miami signed. Basden, the 2005 Conference USA player of the year, led Charlotte to three NCAA tournaments during his four-year career and graduated in 2005.
Basden leads the 49ers in career steals (264) and is ranked 20th in points (1,066) and seventh in rebounds (765). Basden played with the Chicago Bulls during the 2005-06 season.
--- Plenty of soccer accolades this week. Men's soccer player Chris Salvaggione was named Atlantic 10 men's player of the week and was also named to the College Soccer News national team of the week after scoring game-winning goals in Charlotte wins over UNC Greensboro and Elon.
Charlotte junior forward Hailey Beam was named Atlantic 10 women's player of the week and freshman forward Jonna Handra was named A-10 co-rookie of the week following two wins for the 49ers last week. Beam was also named to the Soccer Buzz's Elite Team of the Week as well.

CONGRATS to Eddie. And, getting Braswell would be enormous. How gerat would it be to have two young stud freshmen on the etam next year? There will be plenty of frontcourt time available when Charlie and Lamont graduate.
