More from the 49ers' win over Xavier

Some additional notes following Charlotte's upset of 16th-ranked Xavier:

--Xavier coach Sean Miller declined to attend the post-game interview session, as is required by Atlantic 10 rules. He did, however, find time to do an interview for Xavier's radio broadcast. Coincidently, Miller also declined to address the media following the Musketeers' loss at Duquesne.

Xavier's sports information department provided the following quote attributed to Miller: "They are playing their best basketball of the season right now. We are not playing well right now. We need to fix some things and it needs to start in practice tomorrow."

--This is the second straight season Charlotte has knocked off a Top 20 team. The 49ers defeated then-No. 18 Clemson last year at the Tigers' Littlejohn Coliseum. Charlotte's top 20 win at Halton Arena came in the 2004-05 season over then-No. 18 Cincinnati.

--Lamont Mack on his sole 3-pointer of the game, which came with 32 seconds left and gave the 49ers a four-point lead: "Coach Lutz had faith in me. He knew I wasn't making shots but they were good shots and had been rimming in and out. He called a couple key plays for me down the stretch and I was able to convert them."

--Ian Andersen on the play of teammate DiJuan Harris: "He's running the show out there. He's finding guys and he's getting to the rack. He's playing smart and he's the floor general. It really all starts with him and you couldn't do it any better against a great team like Xavier. He controlled the game, pure and simple."

What kills me is how Charlotte beats Xavier and wants all this credit....Get serious. Charlotte sports SUCK and always will until you get that woman out of the DA seat!!!

Storming the court after beating a team should be reserved only for teams that are ranked # 1.

I'll bet UNCC would strom the court if they could beat Davidson.

This is a second rate basketball program and always will be as long as they are in the A-10.

What are you talking about if they could beat Davidson. Charlotte beat them last year!!

"I'll bet UNCC would strom the court if they could beat Davidson"

Dude, try and keep up. We are 24 and 10 against Davidson, and we beat them last year in Halton. Beating Davidson is no big deal, they're our redheaded stepchild.

Way to go Niners! Keep it up!

Davidson is a one trick pony, your time in the sun is over back to obscurity for you pussycats

I know Ian Anderson is on your team but you guys take this "Living in The Past" thing way too seriously.

I dont get this whole Davidson is better. We just beat them last year, and they chickened out this year...

How many Top 20 teams has Davidson beat this year? Uhhhhh

"I'll bet UNCC would strom the court if they could beat Davidson."

Is this a joke? The Curry-led Wildcats were slaughtered by Charlotte last year, and Charlotte dominates the series over the past several decades. What an asinine comment.

It's always nice when such knowledgeable people show up to bash the Niners after wins.

Great win, this year has been a huge disappointment, but at least the team never gives up.

UNCC's win solidified the A10 as a 1 bid conference. Davidson will be in even if they lose in there tournament.

A nice win...still it's time for Lutz to go....and the AD...and it's time to rethink the A-10 decision.....UNCC deserves to be in a better conference

Davidson is in the tournament already? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA Now, that's a joke.

Davidson. Who cares? I mean, besides The Observer and the ridiculous Scott Fowler (pronounced "Steff-en"). Seriously, nice job showing up with Dick Vitale in your house. This is the first time since we joined what Doug Gottlieb called the "Mitigated Disaster A-10" that our students got to rush the floor. And, I was thrilled to see it.
