Charlotte's baseball team hit three home runs and sophomore starting pitcher Joe Yermal pitched into the ninth in the 49ers' 8-2 victory to open an Atlantic 10 weekend series against visiting La Salle.
The Niners (27-16, 11-8) have won 10 of their past 11 conference games. Charlotte is in a tie for third with Xavier in the Atlantic 10. Yermal picked up his league-leading seventh win of the season (7-2).
