49ers get late game in Charleston

Charlotte's men's basketball team will play George Mason at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 -- the final game of the first round of the Charleston Classic. The winner of the 49ers-Patriots game will play the winner of Thursday's 6 p.m. game between East Carolina and N.C. State at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 (Friday). The losers will play at 8:30 Nov. 19.

Other first-round games include Coastal Carolina-Georgetown (noon) and USC Upstate-Wofford (2:30 p.m.).

The tournament takes the day off Saturday, Nov. 20. The championship game is Sunday at 8 p.m., with games for seventh, fifth and third places at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Should be a fun weekend in Charleston. Maybe the Niner stories will actually make the printed version of the paper since the Observer has suddenly quit publishing 2 pages a day promoting UNC football.

Charlotte was stupid to get a football team and doesn't have a law or medical school and it's just an upgrade from CPCC and students from Davidson are brilliant and the rest of all that troll garbage.

Get off it!

Davidson is a much better school than UNC-C.

First of all, we pay a lot more than you do.

Secondly, we have many more out-of-state students per capita and they just perform at a higher level than NC residents.

Could we save the Davidson-Charlotte stuff for the week of the game?

This sets up pretty well for us. Assuming we can beat GMU (and all their Final Four players are gone and they are incredibly average again), we probably get an overrated NC State team on Friday. Beat them and we get Georgetown in the final. I seriously doubt we could beat the Hoyas, but it would be a nice measuring stick (along with the Tennessee game) to see how good we are with the new coach as we prepare for A-10 play.

I hope that one person was not really a Davidson student. Quite frankly, he/she did not seem all that bright.

This will be a good early season test. I've been missing what was once almost yearly appearances in the NCAA Tourney.

Yeah well I am a Davidson student. Not everyone here has over a 100 IQ.

Who cares about Davidson?

It's David we care about. The King who slayed Goliath. He represents the "Free man" and has been immortalized by Michaelangelo.

David's son was Amnon, who was killed on the order of their half-brother, Absalom, for raping Absalom's sister.

Nice school, named after a rapist.
