Let's fill the lower bowl! Yes! We are awesome!

Thanks Harry.

@9:07
I sincerely hope that YOU don't fill any lower bowls, but in case you do, please post your weight so we know how much to dip out. Thanks.

UNCC still going through with this season...?

I'm being cautiously optimistic about this year. Since we managed to win 10 games last year, including Tennessee and Xavier, with literally half a team, we know Major can coach. Now that we have a full team, we'll see if he can recruit. I'm hoping for a slightly over .500 record an an NIT bid. That's a nice step up from 10-20 and 13th place in the A-10.

Charlotte Basketball Madness tonight!!! LETS GOOOOOO!!!!

Anonymous said...

Always boring. Snooze fest. Wake us when UNCC accomplishes something with substance...in a revenue sport.

Anonymous said...

Just wait till next year!!

Anonymous said...

@1:14.
Firstly, the phrase is "of substance". Did you even graduate high school? Secondly, what is your mother's phone number so we can call and let her wake you up?
Lastly, the last person on the end of the bench in a non revenue sport has accomplished more than an anonymous troll and admitted bandwagon jumper.

is it over yet?

Define "madness"...

Anonymous said...

That was the worst production I have ever seen. Whoever wrote the "hosts" material should be fired. How does the marketing and even the athletic department allow such a pathetic product on the floor? Awful, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Anonymous said...

The students, who it was marketed for, appeared to enjoy it.

9:37 anon, you might want to try your hand at Fan Day on Saturday instead. But at least you went last night, so I have no problem with that type of criticism.

Anonymous said...

How was the turnout?

Anonymous said...

The jokes Jarrett, I mean Garrett, and Spencer were saying were hilarious!

Anonymous said...

I'm glad both basketball teams have been spending their time preparing and practicing a dance routine together while other teams are improving at basketball. Go Niners!

Anonymous said...

Great event! Best yet! It's going to be an epic year for Niner Nation basketball!!!

Anonymous said...

@11:52
I think most other teams have the same sort of production night. While I share your sentiment that they would be better served just getting better at the game, there is the old saying that all work and no play makes Jack (and the world in general) very dull. Perhaps you and I need to loosen up a bit.

The University of North Carolina at charlotte is a joke...they are clowns who have dilusional fans, who think they are relevant, and a joke of an athletic dept. The kids and fans will turn on the entire program when they, as usual, get into conference play and get KILLED!! Same story different year..but at least football coming right??? HAHAHA...UNCC= J O K E!!

Anonymous said...

10:47......you are the joke, you frukin loser.......

Anonymous said...

Y A A A W W W W W N N N N!!!! Can we talk about a REAL basketball and sports program. Davidson basketball is more relevant than UNCC. Excited about the tip of basketball. Please, do they even play D1 anymore? and I agree, UNCC does equal a JOKE.

Anonymous said...

Davidson??? Mallard Creek High School is more relevant than UNCC. Joke is right. UNCC is a joke. I bet if their football program plaed Mallard Creek 1st game of the year, Mallard Creek wins by 4, no 6 td's..

Anonymous said...

what was the attendance? were they able to legitimately fill the lower bowl?

Anonymous said...

uncc is so trash. that's probably because i couldn't get accepted and i work at a fast food restaurant.

LOL

Anonymous said...

Where I spit in YOUR food...LOL...because University of North Carolina at charlotte is a JOKE of a school.

Anonymous said...

keep flippin them burgers hee haw ;)

I'm your bosses boss

Anonymous said...

We are laughing at you and your "college". You are a JOKE. Give it up. The 'fast food restaurant' "jokes" are not funny or clever. Did you write the material for the "madness" event as well?

Anonymous said...

Well, I see the Observer is doing it's usual professional job of moderating this comment section. Now THERE is the real joke. Well, that and the IQ of some of you posters.

Anonymous said...

Awww, do the whittle Niner's need their blog censored?! Poor babies! Don't let the mean UNC, I mean UNCCH (yeah, I really think that'll catch on!) tear you and your program down. They're just mad because they work in a fast food restaurant! wahhh! (followed with a poughty face!)

Anonymous said...

@2:00
Actually I was referring to rude and moronic comments in general, not just the anti 49er ones. However, thank you for selecting yourself as an example. Good job.

Anonymous said...

Like OMG, what a bunch of trolls! They are so dumb! Why don't they just go back to Burger King, where they belong!

LMAO

Anonymous said...

David,

What was the attendance of this specific event? And not the attendance figure that the UNCC officials guestimate...the real number.

Thanks,
Trolls

Anonymous said...

That is the problem with University of NORTH CAROLINA at charlotte...when someone disagrees with their cause they are somehow a "Troll"...that doesnt even make sense...a troll for what?? The TRUTH??? Uncc sucks, their athletics stink, their AD stinks, thier pres. stinks, their students stink...their attitudes stink...and before you attack someone for working, no matter where ie BK or BOA, at least they are working...unlike most of you bratty kids....

Anonymous said...

I graduated from UNC Charlotte in the early 70's, so I'm no bratty kid. Thank you for dismissing the entire university in one fell swoop. Perhaps if you were to visit the beautiful campus and talk to some actual students and faculty instead of wallowing in your own hatred, you MIGHT understand why we take exception to our blog being immediately hijacked every time by folks with nothing better to do than put us down. Good mental health to you, sir or madam.

Anonymous said...

Are the UNCC faithful ignoring our request to divulge attendance figures for the "madness" event? YUP.

Anonymous said...

UNCC and its athletics are embarrassing. Wait for it...wait for it...and the response....
"You're the embarrassing one, since you couldn't get into the University of Charlotte and you work at Burger King!"

LOL

Anonymous said...

Had you bothered to look at the article, you would have seen that this was a free event. When there aren't tickets, attendance figures are always an estimate. So, please shut up. I was there and the upper bowl was partial filled. Considering that this was not an event aimed at the general public and that the men's basketball program is in transition, attendance was OK.

Anonymous said...

@9:08
Charlotte athletics maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Since the last I checked the objective of the university is education, I would not classify that as embarrassing. In addition, our athletes are expected to do a good amount of community work and are taught values we hope will serve them well in later life. Of course, you probably mean that we are embarrassing because we don't get people with the physical abilities that, for example, Chapel Hill, does. We can't control that since they have about a century and a half head start on us. Your ignorance is embarrassing, but common.

Anonymous said...

I forgot that UNCC athletics is the only program in the country that performs at an average level in the classroom and provides community service throughout the year, thus the requirements of all eligible college athletes. Great job Niners! Your dance numbers are really coming together as well!

Anonymous said...

10:52
I'm sure they packed the house on "Fan Day"...

Anonymous said...

Who was taking about Fan Day and why are you so interested and, at the same time, so willing to turn a deaf ear to anything good about the 49er program. A 3.0 gpa on a scale of 0-4 is not average. That would be 2.0. I guess your math grade was way below average. BTW, nobody said UNC Charlotte was the only school that runs a good athletic program, just that it is one of the ones that do. I know this is an advanced concept for you. but life is not always a zero sum game. Other schools running good programs do not detract from us.

Anonymous said...

10:52 made it clear that this specific event was not for the general public; it was an event for the students. Which is an embarrassing claim since your own students don't give a damn about your program. Nevertheless, fan day for the general public? Either way, UNCC's turnout was poor to pedestrian...or vice versa. And if no other programs detract from UNCC, maybe the UNCC dorks obsession with UNC is unmerited? A tad, pathetic? Yeaaaaaah...

Anonymous said...

Statements like "UNCC students don't give a damn about their program" belie a lack of critical thinking. Have you surveyed the student body? It's one of those lazy statements like "welfare recipients are ruining this country" or "Republicans are a bunch of greedy corporate pigs". As to the obsession with UNC, I doubt that UNC Charlotte fans are any more obsessed or delusional than the anyone else. Some just don't buy that UNC can do no wrong. If you want to see obsession with Carolina you need look no further than the local sports pages. My point which I. guess was not obvious to you, is that more than one school can do things the right way. That seems simple enough to me. Keep grinding that ax!

Anonymous said...

I'm republican and I even realize what you're trying to say is moronic. Give it up. It's over. UNCC sucks.

Anonymous said...

@11:05
Reading comprehension 101. My post was not political. Those were only examples of sweeping and stupid generalizations. Like, just to pick something at random, "UNCC sucks" Come back when you have something to say.

GSR for local NCAA schools (meaning percent of athletes graduating within a six year time frame)
Duke 97
Wake Forest 94
UNC Charlotte 89
UNC-Chapel Hill 88
N.C. State 74

National average 82

You guys have waaaaaaaay too much time on your hands. smh...

Face it. UNCC sucks. UNCC students suck. UNCC athletics suck. It's really not a question...you do. Period. Questioning an objective point of view in regards to intelligence or lack there of is ignorant and unfounded. UNCC is not on the same level, nor does it approach any of the schools previously mentioned.

I'm sorry I'm not sorry.

@7:48
Endless name calling and stating over and again the same non-argument? You may as well type in " Your mother is ugly." That would carry the same weight. You think UNC Charlotte sucks? Fine and dandy. Some people are so closed minded that no argument will budge them from their position. The sky is blue? Your response "uncc sucks and that's an objective fact". The sun rises in the east? Your response "uncc sucks" Even a parrot varies his response once in a while and he has a bird brain.

David, can you turn comments off on this and all future Goldmine blogs? That way trolls can go troll elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

@7:48.
I'm the one who posted the chart just previous to your post. It came from an Observer story and one of David's tweets. The original information was from the NCAA. Unless you think there is some conspiracy to make UNC Charlotte look better than it is, just accept the results.
