Here's one to drool over, Charlotte football fans. From a Rivals High story:
Just in case you forgot how important high school football is in Texas, the residents of Allen will soon have a $59.6 million stadium that will leave no doubt.
Next month in the booming north Dallas suburb, ground will be broken on a state-of-the-art, 18,000-seat facility that will feature two decks, a video scoreboard, four concession stands and 12 restrooms. It is scheduled to open in the fall of 2012.
"The community supports our kids in everything: Football, baseball, basketball, band," Allen coach Tom Westerberg said. "It isn't just athletics. They really support us with everything we do.
"The new stadium has been discussed for a number of years and the bond was passed. We are very excited to get this project done and get in there and play."

stupid Texans, 60 million dollar stadiums are for college college sports.
I wish the city of Charlotte would kick in some money for our stadium and tear down Memorial.
And just think -- no debt service fee on the students!
Yes , foe students there should be no service fee debt..
If you got it like that go for it ..I Would love too see in my home city...WOW!!! I would to make a trip to Texas now look at some good ole Texas football...AA. SPORTS...
Good grief. Way to teach your redneck backwoods idiot kids what's important. Hank Hill and Boomhower to the rescue!
As a UNC Charlotte alumnus now living in Dallas, I can tell you that even Texans think this is ridiculous, especially when you consider where education ranks in this state. Leave it up to the Lone Star State to once again look stupid in the eyes of the rest of the nation.
So they are willing to pay extra taxes for a football stadium? I sure hope this school district isn't cutting back in academic areas or the arts.
I believe the community should do as they wish. They voted for a tax to build the stadium, and that's their right. I just hope they have their priorities in order otherwise.
Isn't Memorial Stadium getting a face lift? I see construction going on down there.
Texas, taking stupidity to new level.
This is only half of the story. They also are building a massive, state-of-the-art fine arts center. The bond package also buy school buses, builds schools, improves other schools. Keep in mind this is one of the largest schools in the country, also has the largest student band in the country, and played a game in front of 50,000 fans last year. That's the equivalent of 7 or 8 Indy vs Butler games. It's a money maker for the school district. You have to spend money to make money, and this seems to be the most efficient way for them to do it.
The jealousy that the rest of the country exhibits towards Texas is hilarious. Texas High School Football is a money making business. Texas High School football pays for fine arts, such as band, orchestra, also other athletic programs that can't pull their own weight, like tennis, swimming, wrestling, soccer and golf. This High school has a student population in excess of 5000 in grades 9 through 12. It is not out of the norm for 5A schools in Texas to play football before crowds of 20,000 plus and larger in playoff games. Instead of bashing someone else why not try and be positive for once. You would find it refreshing.

It's still gay, Texas football always has been gay always, will be gay. Carolina Basketball is king, hell even soccer is more relevant worldwide than football. When it comes to southern states you guys always make the rest of us look bad, your like the California of the southern states. Do us all a favor and secede already. You guys always talk about it but you always pussy out at the end. Everything might be bigger in Texas but when it comes to yellow bellies you guys take the cake.
this is awesome... i can only wish my highschool will build something like this before i graduate
football is americas game and the soul reason friday nights are the best nights in america
