Thomas Allen's goal in the second overtime gave the 49ers fifth-ranked men's soccer team a 1-0 victory against No. 14 Coastal Carolina on Monday at Transamerica Field.
Allen's goal, off a Tyler Gibson corner kick at the game's 101:45 mark, raises Charlotte's record to 2-0. Coastal falls to 1-1.
The Chanticleers played a man down for much of the game after Jhamie Hyde was sent off in the first half. Charlotte outshot Coastal 16-8.
Charlotte plays again Friday against Alabama-Birmingham at Transamerica Field.

Nationally higher ranked schools like UNCC should be blowing out these weaker teams up front since coaches schedule the easy sure wins for preseason to pad the record. All sports do it and the UNC 49ers are no exception.
Unranked lesser schools jump at the chance to play any ranked school too since they have nothing to lose by knocking them off.
Take nothing for granted and play like a bat out of hell from the gitgo. No mercy. Take no prisoners and give it 150% non-stop till the last second.

You are one ignorant person. Davidson defeated UNC last season 1-0 in spite of some tremendous differences in the talent level and shot totals that game. Again I say, stick to some subject you know something about.
