The Charlotte 49ers are ready to move into Halton Field House in their soon-to-be-completed football stadium. The N.C. State Construction Office approved beneficial occupancy of the field house Wednesday. The football staff is expected to move into offices in the 46,150-square-foot field house next week, with furniture and equipment for the locker room, weight room, training rooms and meeting rooms also coming next week. The 49ers’ natural-turf practice fields are also ready, one that is full-length field and one that is 80 yards. Construction of the 49ers’ stadium is expected to be completed in September. The 49ers will begin football in 2013.
There's a media tour of the field house scheduled for Friday, so we'll have full photo coverage then.

Sweet
The pictures look so awesome! I may try out for the team next fall.
David, these articles belong in print and in the regular online stories. Why are we forced to read everything in a blog, other than the fact the Observer is worried about some non-UNCC grads/students deciding to go to our games? We had the same issue in basketball while in CUSA with Cinci, Louisville, Memphis, Marquette, etc. The more we won, the less coverage we received. The bigger the game, the less attention it received from the Observer.
And why are Sorenson and Fowlers and most of the other toilet paper blogs are censored to keep the trolls away while ours is left to run rammpant?
10:10 - You already know the answer to that. About 90% of the people hired by the CO to cover sports are UNC-CH grads. ACC, and UNC-CH, sports are important to Charlotte because Charlotte is smack in the middle of the ACC footprint and there are gazillions of UNC-CH grads living here, so covering them is important. You would think that the CHARLOTTE 49ers would receive heavy coverage in the CHARLOTTE newspaper. Unfortunately, they do not possess the journalistic integrity to report, without bias, on ALL sports important to Charlotte. They're all too busy being UNC-CH homers to do the job of adequately covering the college sports going on in the city the paper is published in.
Now, about the content of the blog post...
This is great. Seems like almost every day there is more tangible evidence of the start of the program. 388 days until game one, can't wait.
GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!
Its the UNC-Charlotte 49ers Fieldhouse !!!
And make sure the "hyphen" connects "UNC" to Charlotte to make certain it is known "UNC" owns Charlotte lock stock and barrel not vice versa as thorny Rose and her minions attempt to make it.
"UNC" not only owns Charlotte and the 49ers but must be honored as first in line to give acknowledgement to who gave it birth and turned a nothing into a something in March 1965 when the NC Legislature approved unanimously UNCC 49ers as
4th "UNC" campus.
Forget the Rose gimmicks. It can be no other way. Why? Because ITS THE LAW ...
Newsflash 7:13: There are more Charlotte grads in the Charlotte area than UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State and ECU combined.
Charlotte area you said. There are many more grads of UNC and State in Charlotte proper. I'm sure the Gaston Gazette does a bang up job covering the Niners for all the alums living large in Gastonia.
Print media is dead. Subscribe to the internet.
There are more grads from UNCC in both Charlotte and the Charlotte metro area than from any other school. Let's take it up another step. The number of UNC-Chapel Hill football fans in Charloote is less than the number of fans from NC State, Clemson, South Carolina, ECU, Virginia Tech, and WVU. Guess which school the Observer gives the most football coverage to. You guessed it. UNC-Chapel Hill, although lacking in fan following, receives more football coverage from the Observer than anyone. The exception is the football scandal in Chapel Hill. That's the one topic the Observer reports on less than other papers.
1:06, you are WRONG.....10:45 is correct.
Class of 1997 says:
Anon 10:45 hit the nail on the head. UNCC has more grads living in and around Charlotte than any other school. The Observer has always pimped their tarheels even though though tarheel football fans are pretty scarce around here.
That field house looks pretty sharp. I can't wait until this time next year.
