Charlotte women tied for 25th in soccer poll

The Charlotte 49ers women’s soccer team enters Soccer America’s Top 25 poll this week, for first time since the 2003 preseason poll.

Charlotte (13-3-1) leads the Atlantic 10 with a 9-0 league record and has scored a school-record 60 goals this season. The 49ers enter the poll tied at No. 25 with Harvard (9-3-3).

“It is great that our team has been recognized by the national media for the successful season that we are having,” Charlotte coach Jon Lipsitz said. “Our goal still remains to win the A-10 regular-season and tournament titles and return to the NCAA Tournament.”

The 49ers complete their regular season this weekend with games at Rhode Island on Friday and Sunday at Massachusetts.
