Time again to 'March to the Endzone'

For the second consecutive year, students and fans of the Charlotte 49ers are planning a "March to the Endzone" event to support the addition of football to campus.

The event, scheduled 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, is part of UNC Charlotte's "Community Day" and its "Week of Welcome" surrounding the first week of the fall semester. The Athletic Department and Niner Nation Gold are hosting a march to the future site of a permanent on-campus stadium. Once there, a tailgating party is planned.

The march will begin at 2 p.m. at the Belk Tower and conclude on the recreation fields behind the baseball stadium, the site of a permanent on-campus football stadium, if built.

The event will not take place if there is bad weather. Folks affiliated with the 49erfanatics.com Web site will grill burgers and hot dogs.
