Charlotte 49ers freshman forward Chris Braswell has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's rookie of the week for the third time this season.
Braswell, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward who attended Hargrave Military Academy last season, averaged 15.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in leading Charlotte to three victories on the week.
He scored 16 points and grabbed eight boards on Jan. 17 as the 49ers edged Saint Louis, 63-61 (OT). He had nine points and 10 rebounds in Charlotte’s 71-59 win at Richmond on Jan. 20 and earned his team-leading sixth double-double of the season on Saturday with 21 points and 13 boards as visiting Charlotte edged La Salle, 84-82.
Braswell has reached double-digits in rebounding in nine of the 49ers' 19 games this season.
