49ers draw Liberty in WNIT

The 49ers will play Liberty in the first round of the Women's NIT on Wednesday at Halton Arena (game time will be set Tuesday).

Charlotte (23-9) is one of five Atlantic 10 teams in the field, joining Duquesne, Richmond, St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's.

Liberty (22-10) got the automatic bid from the Big South.

Other games involving N.C. teams: Appalachian State at South Carolina (Wednesday) and UNC Wilmington at Richmond (Thursday).

It's a shame that no matter how well the women's team plays, how many games they play, where they finish in the A-10, they seem destined for the NIT each year. It is not much fun being the southern most member of this league and seemingly on the outside looking in when it comes to the history assigend to Dayton, et al. OK< I'm whining, but there's just no way Dayton should have been selected over the 49ers.

Dayton was flying high the last part of the season while Charlotte was in a nose dive.
