N.C. State made it official today, announcing that former 49ers basketball coach Bobby Lutz will join new coach Mark Gottfried's staff as an assistant. Lutz will be reunited with Orlando Early, one of his former assistants, with the Wolfpack.
Also, a newspaper in Denton, Texas is reporting that former Charlotte women's coach Karen Aston will be introduced Tuesday as the new coach at North Texas.

UNCC we have issues.
karen back stabbed her players and the school as a whole.
When a head coach leaves your school to go to N. Tex you have some major problems in the administration.
This decision by this coach exposes a major problem in the administration even more than the way the Lutz situation was handled.
Left for UNCC for N. Texas!
Aston's leaving does not indicate or prove "problems" in the AD at Charlotte. When are you people going to get over your misogynistic hatred of Judy Rose?
You people are in denial. North Texas is a lateral move from UNCC. They have D1 football and academically are an equal, if not superior school. I mean, who takes the NIT seriously. Especially the women's. Schools like Florida Gulf Coast? South Dakota State?
8:54, you are an idiot and are wrong all on all comments. Get a clue!
None of you clowns commenting on Karen's leaving being indicative of problems with Judy know either one of them or the real circumstances behind this development. Stick to what you know best, if you know anything at all.
UNCC we need to talk. This is ugly! Our Sports department is spiraling out of control. We are bordering Armageddon. It's beginning to get depressing. Someone please help us. What can we do?
Nobody showing up for our men's or women's basketball games. Not even making the A-10 men's tournament. Other schools grabbing up our former coaches over night.
We need some hope & change.
Get Lutz off our payroll!!!!
What about Moxley? Is he going to Moo-U?
Former UNCC highly successful coach Lutz should still be the HC but we know Observer writers like the ever predictable Tom Sorensen idiot wanted him out trying to control things with that bully pulpit of his plus Rose had to screw things up again as usual.
Confusious say: Dont try to cook something up unless you want to drown in your own stew and if it aint broke DONT FIX IT.
Now you got a BIG MESS ...
ps. Cornbread could still be UNCC 49ers HC. Its never too late ...
Oh Nos!!!! The WOMENS BASKETBALL COACH left!!!! What are we going to do? Its the end of the world!
Maybe some of you on here need some Pamprin?
Cornbread could still be the coach?
BAWHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I needed a laugh!
I think it's a little too early to make assumptions. We don't know the circumstances as to why Aston left. Family reasons, the Administration, Charlotte AD, or to be closer to home. We'll probably never know. I'm sure there's a lot behind the scenes that influenced her decision. It's all water under the bridge now. Let's just stay positive and look forward to hiring the new coach.
Not only did your WOMENS BASKETBALL COACH leave, but you just hired a TERRIBLE MENS BASKETBALL COACH, and a PATHETIC FOOTBALL COACH, and your stuck in a GOD AWFUL CONFERENCE!!
OHZ NOS!!!!!!111
THANK YOU JUDY ROSE!
North Texas State...the best jazz band in the country for years. Even for us natives there are many other destinations that are much more attractive than what is currently CLT.
Good for Lutz. But the focus should be on whether this new coach can improve this team coming off the 5th worst season in 49er basketball history. If this program doesn't dramatically improve he's a goner.
I've said it 1,000,000 times, but y'all still don't get it, so here it is again, for the 1,000,001st time:
The baseball coach, both soccer coaches, the last 3 women's hoops coaches, and Bobby Lutz - what do they all have in common?
Two things:
1) All coached their teams to multiple national postseason tournaments.
2) All of them were hired by Judy Rose.
The "Judy Rose must be fired" shrieks are not based on fact. Stop it. Now.
As for Aston, I would have respected her more if she would have just been honest and walked into Rose's office and said, "Look, I know things are going well, but I just don't want to live in Charlotte anymore. I want to coach somewhere near my aging parents." Instead, she said she is resigning only to be able to spend more time with her parents. If that were true, she wouldn't take another coaching job. I successful Division I athletic coach doesn't get to go back home much, regardless of what city or state you work in. Just be honest and we can all move on.
