49ers go 2-0 in Bahamas

The 49ers' men's basketball team wrapped up its two-game preseason trip to the Bahamas with a 112-74 victory against the Bahamas Stingers on Thursday.

Charlotte, which won the first game of the trip on Tuesday, got 19 points from sophomore E. Victor Nickerson. Freshman center Mike Thorne had 14 points and 13 rebounds, while guard Colby Lewis added 16 points, freshman forward Willie Clayton had 16 and sophomore guard Terrence Williams had 15.

The 49ers were hot from outside, making 50 percent of their shots from 3-point range.

50% from 3 point range!! That doesn't sound like the same team from last year.

A walkon scorecd 16 points?

They still suck....do they even play basketball in the bahamas? Trust me, this will not translate to wins during regular season. Sad they had to go play a high school team in bahamas to get a win and actually get covereage from their own paper...a blog at that...hahaha....

Was this the <6' tall team that Shamari Spears plays for?

Do they even play basketball in the Bahamas? No, they played Tiddlywinks instead. The fuck kind of question is that?

@3:57
We don't get regular season wins for winning exhibition games? Thanks for clearing that up, you genius. Trust me, no matter how much we suck; you will suck exponential more. You are still champ!

I just hope this is not the highlight of our season. I remember another recent season when whe beat everyone in Canada in preseason exhibition games.

UNCC basketball (sports program in general) is irrelevant in every possible way.

Anonymous said...

Apparently not......you're posting about them.......loser!

They must not be.....they got an FBS invite over dozens of schools that were begging for it.

Who's the idiot that said UNCC is irrevelant? I doubt I would call FIVE Final 4s irrelevant. 1 in basketball, 2 in soccer, 2 in golf. Not to mention what was until recently a yearly post season appearance in basketball.

What do UNC-chapel hill fans and UNC-chapel hill football players have in common? Neither have ever gone to a class in chapel hill.

Well done 1:28.....well done.

Well, that loser probably thinks Charlotte athletics are irrelevant to her, just like I know the whole ACC is irrelevant to me. That person probably doesn't have the brainpower to separate hype from reality and depends on the Observer to tell her what to think. Sad

They've never been to a Final Four in golf. They have been to the finals twice, but 30 teams go to the finals.

Do you know who else has been to at least two soccer Final Four's recently? Akron and UC Santa Barbara. Are they that relevant?

The basketball Final Four was 35 years ago.

I think we are grasping at straws for calling UNCC sports relevant.

Yea, how about some context. "Relevant" has no meaning without "to". Did you mean "popular" or "worthwhile" or "belonging to a Big 6 Conference" or what? My guess is that the original comment was just the typical "your sister is ugly' stuff posted by trolls everywhere and has no real meaning whatever

I'm happy for any opportunity for the team to play together, develop some chemistry and make some shots, no matter how inferior the opposition is. We have so many new guys that even glorified pickup games like this will help them come together as a team.

Fine, they are about as relevant as Winthrop in sports. How about that? Winthrop has a basketball team that up until recently made the NCAA basketball tournament every year. They might not have a basketball Final Four, but they typically got furhter along than UNCC did. I'm sure they've had some of their non-revenue sports get far in NCAA tournaments. Oh yeah, they also have a football team that thus far has played 0 games. So there you have it. UNCC is just as relevant in the college sports landscape as Winthrop. They are more relevant than Charleston Southern, but less relevant than Davidson.

Not fine!
Since "relevant" means closely associated with the matter at hand, I assume you think Winthrop and Charlotte have no impact whatever on athletics. I can only guess you what you really mean is that Charlotte athletics is not relevant to YOUR interest in sports. To that I say: who cares about YOUR interest except you.
Here is a correct usage of the word: "You're IQ is 75 and your board score is 650, but since you weigh 275 lbs and run a 4.2 40 yard dash, those things are not relevant to your acceptance here at Chapel Hill"
Yes, I am messing with you and trying to have you admit you are one of the great unwashed masses who only care about winning on the field.
