Charlotte 49ers picked to win A-10 men's soccer

The Charlotte 49ers are the Atlantic 10's men's soccer coaches' preseason pick to win the league championship.

Charlotte, which advanced to last season's NCAA championship game, was chosen ahead of Xavier (last season's conference tournament champ) and league newcomer Virginia Commonwealth. The rest of the predicted order of finish: 4. Saint Louis, 5. Fordham, 6. George Washington, T7. Butler, La Salle; 9. Duquesne. 10. Dayton, 11. Temple. 12. Rhode Island, 13. UMass. 14. Richmond. 15. St. Bonaventure. 16. Saint Joseph's.

The 49ers return eight starters from last year's 16-5-4 team and have a new coach in Kevin Langan. Practice begins Aug. 10, with an exhibition at Transamerica Field set for Aug. 18 against Gardner-Webb. The season opener is Aug. 25 against Denver. The 49ers will host the conference tournament Nov. 8-11.

The last time UNC played uncc was in the national title game. Guess who won?

Cool thing for Carolina was they probably received class credit for playing in the game :)

Yup, the Tar Holes "'won" that game. The fact that they were outplayed and outcoached and that they cheated to win and then lied about it shows something about them and about you creeps (Bruce and Mike) who only care about winning on the scoreboard. The Carolina way: cheat, lie, and boast about how "superior" you are. Your mascot should be a jackass rather than a ram. Ya'll can win as many championships as there are stars in the sky and you will still be LOSERS. Ask Penn State about that.

A bogus no call in the box cost the Niners a victory, the crowd saw it, the players saw it, the media saw it. UNC Chapel Hill (their proper name) managed to win the game, but did not win it clean.

Captain Obvious says: 100 dollars says neither Bruce nor Mike actually went to UNC-Chapel Hill, or any other college.

I hope UNCC plays some soccer this year, not the crap they did last season...The National Championship
game was a disgrace.

12:48 - you are right; the national championship was a disgrace. The UNC-CH blatant foul in the box that was so obvious a blind man could see it yet went uncalled was indeed disgraceful. Of course there's no way of knowing if we would have made the penalty kick, but we should have had the chance. The officials must have been reading the "How to cheat at UNC-CH" manual.

Yesterday, the NC State Senate called a special session to consider a new state zoo. It passed unanimously. Today state workers started putting up the fence around UNC-CH. The campus already has donkeys, buzzards, cheating hyenas, cockroaches, and rats that have have been on the campus for years.

UNCC does have a decent soccer team. Good for them, because the basketball team is a complete waste and should be considered Div III. The football team plays Chowan...let's get excited about that! Bawhahahahaha....no "real" recruit will want to go UNCC. The middle school helmets won't help either...Just sayin'

Bruce - What exactly is your problem? Were you denied entry to an undergrad program at Charlotte? Did a extreme Charlotte 49er hotty make fun of you and worthless existence? Go troll somewhere else, I imagine you would fit in pretty well on "I'm a lonely 40 year old virgin" Forum.

Go Niners!!

I know Bruce's problem. He never went to any college because colleges require a high school diploma. That's not all. He was chasing a certain girl and she rejected Bruce for a UNCC student. Bruce, like so many other high school dropouts, is a fan of UNC-chapel hill and thinks that makes him a success in life. Bruce is your classic loser.

Don't get mad because UNCC sports are a complete a joke! UNC plays for national titles in many sports every year. When was the last time UNCC did? Wait for it...last year, when they lost to the Flagship UNC school of the Tar Heel state. Enough said. Atlantic 10? Another joke. Cum get some sucka! Bawhahahahaha...

Bruce, no one is mad. We are too busy LAUGHING AT YOU to get mad. Notice I said laughing AT YOU, NOT laughing WITH YOU.

Come on Bruce. Tell us who your favorite college football team is. We all know UNC-chapel hill is your favorite basketball team, but who is your favorite football team? Bama? Auburn? Who? With the joke of a football program in chapel hill, I doubt you even follow them at all.

UNC-Charlotte 49ers are predicted to win the NCAA title again like last year over the UNC-Chapel Hill Tarheels.

UNC-Charlotte 49ers didnt actually lose last year as time just expired before the winning goal could be scored. No big deal. Simple semantics.

The best thing about both
UNC soccer programs is not a single athlete on either team got caught cheating or doing anything unlawful academically or otherwise and the NCAA gave both A+.

In other words both programs were SCAM-FREE.

Anon 7:16, I don't think any program in chapel hill is scam-free. I don't know which is worse, the unethical and dishonest athletic department in chapel hill, or the dishonesty and bias demonstrated by the Observer staff in favor of their UNC-chapel hill teams. You probably need to read the Raleigh News and Observer (whose sports editor is not a chapel hill grad) to get all the details about the cheating in chapel hill.

Anonymous said...

Why does the Observer always throw out 7 or 8 daily stories glorifying UNC-Chapel Hill when the Niners are stuckc with a blog? It's no wonder no one in Charlotte knows abything about the Niners.

Love the attention from Bruce and the Anonatrolls.

I keep wondering what Bruce's problem is.

Anon 5:39, I have also wondered why the Observer is so biased in its heavy favortism of UNC and its dislike of the Charlotte 49ers. "UNCC" has more gads living in Charlotte than UNC. One would think that the Observer would want to sell papers to all those UNCC grads. I know at least 25 Charlotte grads who have cancelled their Observer subscriptions after seeing atrocious 49er coverage. I guess the Observer is more concerned about pimping their Tarheels than selling newspapers.

Anonymous said...

Agree with all the statements about the terrible Observer coverage. I am one of the 49er fans that canceled my printed subscription because I get fed up with all the promotional Tarheel articles, and then they refuse to print very much about the cheating scandels in Chapel Hill.

They don't mind telling the city UNC won last year's soccer championship but the only place we see mentioned that the 49ers finished 2nd in the nation is in this blog, which is never read by anyone other than 49er fans.

Agreed. I too had a subscription. Cancelled last year. Its like the completley ignore that there is a huge campus about 25 mins from thier HQ!

Anonymous said...

So what if the editors of the Observer are Carolina grads and they have a right to favor my Heels if they want too. Yes it is obvious and everyone knows it including fans from other schools but that is to bad you niner fans and wolfpack fans and south carolina fans and hokie fans all need to quit youre wining. My Heels are NUMBER 1 in everything.

McClatchy is the parent company of the Charlotte absorber. Who knew their ticker symbol was MNI? Always thought it was UNC. $1.57 a share does not indicate a healthy company.

^^^^ What do you expect when the Observer knowingly loses subscribers and advertisers because of their refusal to show UNCC and its 26,000 students and90,000 grads living in the Charlotte Metro Area any respect. The only thing they care about is promoting their Tarheels. I use the term "promote" because that is precisely what they do.
