Charlotte men's soccer hosting weekend event

The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team finally gets a home game this season when it hosts the Charlotte/Nike Invitational this weekend at Transamerica Field.

The 49ers (3-1) have won two tournament titles this season, winning the Davidson/Adidas Classic in Davidson and the UNCW/Marriott Classic in Wilmington. This weekend, Charlotte will host Winthrop (4-2) Friday at 7:30 p.m. while Alabama-Birmingham (2-3-1) meets Davidson (1-5) at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Davidson will play Winthrop at noon while the 49ers host UAB at 2:30 p.m.

Charlotte senior Chris Salvaggione has scored a goal in each of the 49ers' four games and leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in goals scored. Sophomore Andres Cuero has three goals and eight points this season.
