On Tap: Charlotte vs. Saint Louis

The road back to .500 gets no easier Wednesday night as the Charlotte 49ers men's basketball team will face another of the best defensive teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference for the second straight game. The Billikens are tied with Dayton for the lead in scoring defense, allowing 59.0 points per game. Charlotte handed Dayton just its third loss of the season on Sunday.

Saint Louis also tops the conference, holding opponents to 26.4 percent from the field in 3-point shooting. Charlotte's performance from behind the 3-point line has been very inconsistent this season. When forward Lamont Mack and shooting guard Ian Andersen are hitting consistently from the outisde this season, the 49ers have seen their chance at success greatly improved.

Defensively, Charlotte will need to focus on Kevin Lisch (who averages 13.8 ppg) and Tommie Liddell III (12.8 ppg). Liddell is lso averaging 6.2 rebounds a game. Point guard Kwamain Mitchell is eighth in the league in assists at 3.77 apg.

NN.N goes down after our biggest win of the season! I've got blue balls from having no place to talk about how great Bobby Lutz is and how the Niners are going to make another Final Four run...
Please, Saint Louis, don't spoil our excitement! Get well soon NN.N!!!

Who is going to watch the game at Picassos? I would love to go and make fun of all the dooke and tarhole fans. Ha

Watch the game at Ham's. They have hosted us all year and do a great job with 49er specials and tons of TVs turned to the game. Even tonight with the UNC-Duke game, you will see 20 TVs tuned to the Niners on MASN!

So, the Niner Nation Talk Board is gone. It is too bad it is gone but in recent years it was not as good as it used to be. Many of the more knowledgable fans quit posting because the had become so negative. The way some of the posters talked about the players and coaches was not good. It may have even had a negative effect on our recruiting. Why would a player or player's parents want to come play where so many complained way more than they ever thought about cheering for the team. I have been an niner fan since 1977 and have really enjoyed it. Some teams have been better than others. But, every team has it's good years and it's bad years. But, I cheer for the bad teams and the good teams. It's fun to see the coaches take the players they have and get the most out of them. The 49er's program has improved in so many way over the years. I am thankful for the coaches and all the work they do. The injuries for this year have hurt. But, good times are ahead. Keep the faith and support the team. Go Niners and beat St. Louis tonight.

To: Anonymous poster at 9:50 PM...

Any sports bar in the country has MASN-TV. Some cable operators in NC, VA and all of MD and DC have MASN. We're trying to get TWC in the Charlotte Region to carry it. If you live in Charlotte, there were at least 20 TVs at Ham's tuned to the game....even thoigh God played Jesus last night in the ACC.
If you live in the midwest, Charter Communications Cable in Missouri picked up the game.
It is hard being a fan for many reasons, but last night we were very much available. You can also spend $9.95 a month and watch every game on your PC if that is convenient.

How weird is it that in our two past losses, we hold the hard nosed white kid scoreless in the first half of each game and then each scores 18 (maybe it was 19 for Baron) in the 2nd half.
Damn the bad luck or hot hand or poor defense or all of it.
