Women's soccer blanks Xavier 3-0

The Charlotte 49ers women’s soccer team ran its unbeaten streak against Atlantic 10 competition to 22 games with a 3-0 win at Xavier, the 49ers' fifth consecutive shutout.

Charlotte (11-2-1, 5-0-1) got goals from Danielle Mayeaux, Jonna Handra and Sam Huecker. "Once again it’s pleasing to see different goal scorers pop up on the stat sheet," said Charlotte coach John Cullen. "It makes for a competitive team as well as a team who knows on any given day that we can get goals from a variety of players."

The 49ers finished the game with a 24-8 advantage in shots. All three 49ers goalkeepers, Lauren Brown, Jessica Barton and Natalie LaVigne, saw action. Brown recorded two saves.

The 49ers play their final regular season home games next weekend, vs. Richmond at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16 and vs. George Washington at 1 p.m. Oct. 18 on Senior Day.
