49ers lose one to Wolfpack

Forsyth Country Day point guard Tyler Lewis's verbal commitment to N.C. State today put a dent in the 49ers' recruiting efforts this year. Lewis, who attended Charlotte's "Major Madness" last week, is the brother of 49ers walk-on guard Colby Lewis.

Charlotte's still in the hunt for Elijah Carter, a guard from Brewster (N.H.) Academy and small forward E. Victor Nickerson of Norcross, Ga.

The 49ers already have commitments from West Mecklenburg shooting guard Terrence Williams and Mike Thorne of Fayetteville.

Hmmmmm. ACC vs "What Conference is Charlotte in"? Not sure that they ever really had him, when he had a "better" opportunity in hand, do ya?? Let's see if he pans out to be ACC ability.

Not a good move Tyler hopefully you will never actually sign at NCSU. They dont need you they want you. You are merely a great marketing tool for them. They already are set at the point for the next 4 yrs and if they win big they will recruit Kyrie Irving type PG's who will surely be your in house competition. Your games will be your practices.Dont waste your talent. Pick a school any school that needs you 1st and foremost. EYES WIDE SHUT!!!!

Bad move TL......YOU will regret not going to Charlotte instead.

I hate all of you pompous fucks from the ACC that think no good player can go to any other school than an ACC school! Secondly, State fucking blow and Charlotte is on tier with them. Just wait until Charlotte lands in a big conference after football starts. I can't wait to wax you ACC fools. Oh wait, you won't play us, that's right!

great, this nerd signed elsewhere, can we quit sucking his families ass and drop his brother from the team?

Would Lutz and Major even have kept this kids brother as a walk on if he had no interest in Charlotte.

"charlotte is on tier" with who?

First of all it is "UNC-Charlotte" or UNC-Southwest, however you want to look at it.

You must be on dope to try to argue that a commuter school like UNCC's basketball program in on par with any Atlantic Coast Conference program. Really?

10:15.....you're right, the Charlotte 49ers are NOT equal to all of the ACC......they're better than atleast half of that overrated league which consists mainly of Duke, UNCCH and a bunch of mediocre (at best) programs.

check the stats....Charlotte is no more a commuter school than most other colleges around the country. In fact, Charlotte has higher % of students living on campus than alot of area collges.

If UNC and Duke were mediocre at best, how come they have 4 National Titles between them this decade? When's the last time UNCC sniffed that? That's what I thought.

Go back to talking about beating NC State at that tournament 10 years ago. Tyler probably watched that NCAA tourney match when NC State shutdown the Niners and made his decision, a game that mattered.

Niners, get out of that bubble and take off your "green tinted glasses!"

Reading the comments from these NCSU fans, you'd think they were a national powerhouse in basketball. Not that Charlotte is either, but State is no more a basketball school than I am an astronaut.

Good luck, Tyler.

He didn't say UNC and Duke were mediocre. He said the ACC is Duke and UNC and then a bunch of mediocre programs. Other than those two schools, nobody in the ACC sustains success. They have their ups and downs being occasionally ranked, but that's pretty much been the story of Charlotte the last 20 years as well.

Best of luck to Tyler. He's an exciting player to watch. I wish he was attending Charlotte, but I'll watch him regardless.

If Lowe disappoints again this season, he'll be fired and maybe we'll have a second chance.

The commuter thing might have been an insult 10 years ago, but the vast majority of our students either live on campus or within a couple of miles at one of the numerous apartment complexes designed for our students. Also, there is no hyphen in UNC Charlotte, and our athletic program is officially branded Charlotte. A lot of schools do this when is comes to athletics, including G-Tech, V-Tech, and even UNC-CH (which is branded as just UNC or North Carolina). Hopefully we will remove the UNC from our name altogether soon.

Will Lowe still be the coach when Lewis gets to campus? He has had NCSU 9th or worse in the ACC for 4 straight years. Sendek never finished worse than 8th, and was largely disliked by NC State fans.

I had my hopes up to land Tyler, but I guess it was just a ploy on the family's part to keep his brother on our team... Regardless, have my fingers crossed that we get Nickerson to committ to Charlotte when he announces tomorrow afternoon.

Burden not Charlotte with your chaff.

We just landed En Victor Nickerson.

This dude is WAYYYY over hyped. A exceptional HS player - maybe a good college player & never an NBA talent like what the ACC expects.
