In a battle of the top two women's soccer teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference, the Charlotte 49ers fought Dayton to a scoreless tie in double overtime on a rain-drenched field. The Flyers, however, remain unbeaten on the season (8-0-5, 4-0-1) while the 49ers (10-2-1, 4-0-1) remain unbeaten in their last 21 conference games.
"It was a classic game between two very good teams," Charlotte coach John Cullen said. "The conditions were awful since it has not stopped raining since we arrived in Dayton. Both teams had moments when they were in control."
Dayton recorded 30 shots with 11 on goal but the 49ers' defense posted its fourth straight shutout. Goalkeeper Lauren Brown recorded a season-high 11 saves in the game.
Charlotte next plays at Xavier at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Thanks for the articles Jim. The city needs to know that Charlotte has two great soccer teams this year.
