The Charlotte 49ers Gold Dusters wrapped up competition in the 2009 NCA & NDA Collegiate National Championship and finished in fifth place. The team from Stephen F. Austin won the national championship.
The Gold Dusters finished the first day fifth in the prelims to earn a spot as one of 10 teams to advance to the finals. While earning an improved score of 8.752 on day 2, the team remained fifth.
"The girls worked very hard to nail this routine and it showed in a top five national finish," said Gold Dusters coach Jennifer Floyd. "We are very proud of the girls and what they have accomplished."
Competing in the Division I category the 49ers took on 18 other schools in the national competition. The teams were required to perform a maximum of 2 minutes, 15 seconds including 30 consecutive seconds of each style of dance (jazz, pom, and hip hop).
