Malcolm Armstead, a talented 6-foot, 190-pound freshman point guard for Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla., is expected to make a recruiting visit this Thursday with the Charlotte 49ers.
Armstead's Chipola team finished the season 34-2 and reached the national semifinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament. Should Armstead join the 49ers, the native of Florence, Ala., would have three seasons of eligibility remaining. He has already received offers from Arkansas, Iowa and Providence.
Last week, Jamarr Sanders, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound shooting guard from Northwest Florida State College, made an on-campus visit. Charlotte has two scholarships remaining for the 2009-10 season.

I hope he likes crappy weather because that's what we'll have here on his visit.
charlotte is a good time anytime
It wouldnt be any worse weather than Providence or Iowa! Don't think he's that concerned bout that...
It's nice to get guys in from winning teams that will help change the locker room positively (Braswell from Hargrave, dudes from Chipola, Spears from BC)...
I hate the word talented!!That means they never are!
Hope we get both of these guys. It will be great to have 2 point guards to run at people, and increase the pressure both on offense and defense.
You would think eventually Lutz would realize that JUCO's aren't the way to build a program.
They are what you are left with to get when your point guard quits after the season starts because he won't be a starter.

Do you remember Sean Colson? If you are a 49ers' fan you do. I do think if Lutz is recruiting a JuCo point guard he is more likely to help us than not especially since this particular recruit has three years.
What I wouldn't have given for "Tasty Cake" Colson to have 3 years!
Heard he wasn't comng.
Jim... can we get a recruiting update?
I really like your writing. Thanks so much, finally a decent website with good information in it.
