Charlotte 49ers headed to the NIT?

While there are many Web sites and "experts" who regularly try to predict the NCAA tournament field each year, far fewer exist that attempt to place teams in the National Invitation Tournament.

However, The Bracket Project does both, including predicting teams for the College Basketball Invitational and CollegeInsider.com tournaments (both of those are pay-to-play tournaments).

The Bracket Project has the Charlotte 49ers (19-12) in the NIT, playing in the Arizona State Region. Seton Hall, Alabama-Birmingham and Dayton are the other projected top seeds in the NIT.

You can see the whole breakdown of the projected NIT bracket here.

NITology (http://tcaa.puretecmo.com/nit06.html) also has the 49ers as a #7 seed but playing in the UAB region against Mississippi State.

Either way, it's disappointing to know that there were 2 probable Halton games, now zero.

We will lose. This team does NOT play together and has no confidence. I have NO interest in watching another Nebraska beat down. We won't score 60 against whoever we play because we mailed it in after our game at Dayton.

Dijuan needs to get his head out of his butt. Shamari needs to shut up an play. Derrio needs to grow a pair.

I remember way back when they were projected to be a 9 seed in the NCAAs. I think it was about that point they started believing their own press clippings.

Hopefully they will go and add another nail to the Bobby Lutz coffin ! If this years collapse and the total dis-array and state of confusion this team is in, doesn't get him fired....then he's oficially un-touchable !

What a waste of talent this year was. They showed no heart all year and essentially gave up after the Dayton game.

Sad...sadder...saddest! Is the NIT this desperate for teams to play in its Losers' Tourney? Yes, UNCC fits that billing; but don't these Junior College Boys at UNCC ever need to study?

Sometimes I think people forget that we are an extremely young basketball team, and were supposed to fail miserably this season, next year could be good... Especially with adding Jamar Briscoe at the point

Yeah thats a great arguement Andrew, but even a young team gets better as the season progresses.....players in this program under Lutz either digress or leave ! Very few players over the years have left here beter players than they arrived !
