Charlotte finishes tied for 11th in golf

Charlotte senior Stefan Wiedergruen tied for 14th and the 49ers tied for 11th after the final round at the highly-competitive Southern Highlands Collegiate. The 15-team field included each of the nation's top four teams and all but one team in the field is ranked in Golfstat's top 50.

Charlotte, 50th in Golfstat's latest ranking, shot 16-over par in the third round to tie 20th-ranked Texas A&M for 11th-place at +40, 904 and bested 8th-ranked Texas (+41, 905) by one stroke.

Wiedergruen birdied two of his final three holes to finish at two-over par 74 for a three-day total of +3, 219. He finished tied for 14th, ahead of the likes of Clemson's Kyle Stanley (+4, 220) and Georgia's Russell Henley (+6, 222), who are both ranked in Golfstat's individual top 10.
