The Charlotte 49ers, who hadn't won an Atlantic 10 women's tournament game in their first three years in the league, dusted conference power Temple 73-50 Sunday to advance to Monday's championship game.
Charlotte (22-8), the tournament No. 3 seed, will face No. 4 seed Richmond (23-8) at 5 p.m. Monday at Halton Arena. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Senior point guard Traci Ray led the 49ers with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Three other players - Brittany Carter, Aysha Jones and Danielle Burgin - scored 10 each.
Lindsay Kimmel led Temple (21-9) with 10 points.

AWESOME WIN!!!!
Go Niners!
Damn good win by the Ladies!!! Can we bring some of them to Atlantic City with the Men?
Traci Ray was the key to this victory. Her ball handling and speed drove the Temple team crazy. In the second half, she made a number of 3 pointers, essentially putting the game away. If Charlotte wins tomorrow, Traci would be a prime candidate for tournament MVP.
Watching the Niner women demolish an NCAA tourney team in the Owls was the best game I've seen in Halton this year, and I was there for the men's team victory over Xavier.
I'm excited for the Richmond game tomorrow. The Spiders and Niners are on the bubble and need this game ferociously to keep their hopes alive. Both might have done enough to get in already but the only way to be sure is with a win tomorrow night.
The A10 has a legitimate shot at getting 4 NCAA teams this year.
Go Niners Go! Traci Ray and Danielle Burgin deserve the NCAA Tourney. Hope they win tomorrow, but I have had my fill of Richmond vs. the 49ers in Halton!
Wish I could make it... GO 49ERS!
Yes... Yes... Yes... That's what I'm talkin about!! LADIES!!! Come on Charlotte O, step up the Coverage.
5:00 pm, be there. This team is awesome.
Okay, big stories about Davidson and UNC on the front page today, but nothing about the 49ers? Come on Observer, show some support for the home team?!?!
