Charlotte women win first A-10 tourney game

The Charlotte 49ers ended three years of frustration, running over Duquesne 81-57 Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 women's tournament at Halton Arena. It's the first time the 49ers have won a conference tournament game since they moved to the league in the 2005-06 season.

The 49ers (21-8), the tournament's third seed, will play No. 2 seed Temple (21-8) at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the second semifinal. The winner advances to Monday's 5 p.m. championship game.

Seniors Traci Ray and Danielle Burgin led the way for Charlotte. Ray finished with 20 points and five assists and made 6-of-9 3-pointers. Burgin had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Kristi Little scored 21 points to lead the Dukes (20-11).
