Top Juco point guard to visit 49ers

UPDATE: Apparently, Armstead did not visit Thursday. Will update when receive more information.

Malcolm Armstead, a talented 6-foot, 190-pound freshman point guard for Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla., is expected to make a recruiting visit Thursday with the Charlotte 49ers, sources confirmed Wednesday night.

Armstead's Chipola team finished the season 34-2 and in the national semifinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament. Should Armstead join the 49ers this fall the native of Florence, Ala., would have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Armstead has already received offers from Arkansas, Iowa and Providence. Armstead's Chipola teammate, Justin Brownlee, a 6-7 sophomore forward, has also been a recruiting target for the 49ers.

He won't get any playing time. See Gerrity, Michael. All he'll get is the five minutes a game that Lutz puts Harris on the bench.

Gerrity got playing time, just not the 30 mpg he desired. Any decent PG we bring in is going to get 10-15 mpg, and more if he can shoot.

Really? Gerrity split time with Harris. Harris got a ton of minutes this year because we didn't have a back up. Lutz said several times last year he liked having two good PG's to split time so he could keep fresh legs on the floor and not have to use time out's to discuss strategy.

I would rather have talented legs than fresh legs. The program at Charlotte needs a fresh start. Bobby Lutz is NOT the guy for this program. UNCC or Charlotte to be politically correct does not have the money to buy out his current contract. The A-10 has been a disaster for this program. Judy
(1960 hairstyle) Rose needs to spend ALL of her time looking for other conference options.

Other conference options?! What options! The A-10, unfortunately, is our home for the foreseeable future. There will be no changing that until we have an established football program b/c there is no where up to go (Big East, ACC, etc.) and we are definitely not going to go down (Big South, SoCon, etc.)

Gerrity quit the team because he wanted to start, plain and simple. Good riddance.

Gerrity was a punk and I hope we never recruit another player from California ! I can live with Juco's that have three years to play instead of 2. Lets just quit wasting scholarships on players like Gaby & Barnett and use them more wisely ! If someone will teach Ian the art of the "ball fake" it would help also !

I agree about Gabby, Barnett is a quality player though. In his limited minutes he was valuable to our team. He hit the last second shot in the first half against X.
