Where will the 49ers go?

With the NCAA men's basketball tournament selection process over, attention now turns to the women's tournament, which will be announced at 7 p.m. Monday on ESPN. The Charlotte 49ers (23-8) received an automatic bid to the tournament with their victory in the Atlantic 10 tournament final last week at Halton Arena.

ESPN.com's Charlie Creme, in his most recent women's tournament "bracketology" update, predicts the 49ers will be given an 11th seed. He predicts Charlotte will face Purdue (22-10), the sixth seed, in the first round in games played at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

For what it's worth, I think it's more likely the 49ers end up a ninth or 10th seed (Creme has Temple a ninth seed), in part because of the lopsided win Charlotte had over Temple in the A-10 tournament semifinals. I also think it's more likely Charlotte will be assigned to the Chattanooga or Duluth, Ga., first/second round locations.

We'll know shortly.
